SDFP... Here now. Works! *Read Post #48 and Post #671*

Okay, lots more data points from today at Epcot - I'd post the SDFP-relevant stuff here and the rest over on the main FPP thread. First major glitch today was that while trying to let two FPP's expire to test the Tier 2 stuff, Figment went down and Disney gave me an anytime FPP which of course messed up my testing! So I had to quickly scramble to rebook for another person in order to test everything I wanted to. Apparently you can't cancel an anytime FPP? Ugh.

Anyway, I mainly tested the SDFP booking, changing and using. I booked at a kiosk and was still unable to change via the app or the mobile browser. I did try something different and put a valid person with the 2 SDFP's (so the party included someone who had valid admission). Still the same issue if I tried to change for all 3 - same error messages, whether on app or browser. It did let me only choose the valid person and change them. I thought maybe tying them together would help but it didn't. For now, for all I can tell, SDFP's can NOT be changed anywhere other than a kiosk and I haven't had any issues changing anything else so I don't think it's just a glitch in the system. I also used one of the SDFP's I'd made so still no issue in making/changing at a kiosk and using at a ride.

@Shanti - if it makes you feel better, I also didn't know what GLFP stood for and have also looked unsuccessfully for it. :)

ScrapYap (or Hiro) - is an AP from someone else considered a GLFP? If you ever want someone to check that, I use those regularly (3 20-something kids who don't live here in Orlando but come home often enough to justify buying them) - far more than I use SDFP's (other than now while testing). In any case - data point - it worked today. :thumbsup2
Yes. Using APs that belong to others is GLFP. ;) I have comp tickets that sit in my MDE, earmarked for use at DLR, and are used for GLFPs for WDW.

Glad it worked. Great research!

Good point about GLFP - they're not just generated by future tickets. It would be any time you use a ticket-linked MDE profile to book FP+ in advance but don't use that ticket to enter the park. So it would be comps, APs of friends/family, AP vouchers, or any other valid tickets of any kind!

I was just listening to a podcast and they are stating that Disney has made a change regarding making a SDFP using a non-ticketed device. You can still make the FP just as you always have, HOWEVER, you can no longer manage the FP using MDX (assuming the band/card is linked). You have to go back to a kiosk to make any changes to the SDFP made.

Can someone confirm or deny this ?

Yes. Just read the last few pages...

If you have a resort reservation, has anyone tested if you can manage on MDX a SDFP band/card for an infant which is part of the room reservation with no ticket?

No, not manageable because the FP will be RFID based rather than based on a ticket entitlement. The system is not allowing Modification based on the absence of a ticket entitlement.

One last question, assuming the non-ticketed band/card is tied to your MDX account, can you still see the SDFP on MDX even though you cannot manage it ?

Yes. That's how those testing the change knew their SDFPs couldn't be Modified on the app or website.

Actually, I could even go through the entire process as if I were changing the FPP which could be helpful in checking availability before going to a kiosk. Just each time I got to the last step of trying to confirm changes, I received an error message (shown in my posts from last weekend).

SDFP worked well last fall. Can't wait to try it again this summer. Thanks to everyone for all the great information.

Will this work...we went last year and still have our magic bands. We are booked again this year but it's under same MDE account. Can I add new profiles for my husband and children and then edit our room reservation to include the new profiles instead. Then the new magic bands would not be part of the hive from last year? I know mine would be, but we have one under 3 and could use his to get my SDFP. Thanks in advance for your help!

I am going to go ahead and purchase tickets for a future trip to add to my recently purchased second set of magic bands. Is it best to purchase tickets from some place like Undercover Tourist for discounts? Assuming those could be upgraded at a later date too correct?

I plan to purchase 8 day tickets...usually what we use on a normal trip.

What time of day do people typically go to the kiosk to get SDFP? Do the kiosks have long lines early in the day? I don't want to waist 20-30 min of prime touring time signing up for SDFP since I doubt they are the best options to start with. But I don't want to wait too long in the day so none are left to book. If planning to do rope drop when would be best time to go to the kiosk?
Also I set up phatom names in MDE for everyone. Do all of the phantom bands need to be present at the kiosk to book them? And Can 4 be scheduled at once or do you have to go through slowly 1 phantom at a time since they don't have admission?

Just wondering if the kiosk by the firehouse is still there? I find many maps/lists of FP+ kiosks that do not list any such thing.

At MK? There's not one right in or by the firehouse per se but there are two on the right, right inside City Hall. Sometimes they're covered but usually that's the best place to go.
