SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

I guess I could always buy another two bands when at Disney and I'd be no worse off (I only need three bands total for my family). I know the first post mentions the risk of buying bands from eBay, but for the price I thought it was a pretty minimal risk. It would be kind of annoying if only one worked or if none of them worked, but the item description mentioned the items were unused and that there are names on the inside of the band. This leads me to believe they were probably linked at some point to a family, perhaps someone doing a split stay. These could be pretty nice since I could lend them out to friends/family who want to try this technique out without worrying about the vacation package stored on my bands!

Check the names on the back when they arrive. If they are different names, they are hopefully not clones of one another.

Weird question - can I get two SDFPs at park 2 if I have a "not yet used" SDFP for park 1?

Example: I go to HS at 9am and get a SDFP for 1pm, then I quickly park hop to MK and get two SDFPs for use at night. Will the system balk because I have a FP at HS that I have not used yet?

No, at least as of 5/15 when I tried it
It works similar to prebooked fp where it tells you that you have to use, cancel or wait till it expires.

DMBAND - thanks very much! This is extremely helpful.

We're not going to Disney 'til Summer of 2018, but I love to plan! I really hope this SDFP process is still working when we get there - will save me from having my volcano-of-a-child overheat on me!

For someone wanting to have a second MDE and not adding phantoms to their original MDE, how do you link a new magic band to each of the guests on the second MDE? A friend is trying to do this and I couldn't figure out the answer from the first post. She has set up a second account and purchased bands from the Disney store.
She told me as she tries to enter the number for the band it is saying "unable to identify the band." She confirmed when she purchase them that they are in link it later mode.

Just a hunch ... are the 0's and O's entered accordingly? Capital letter vs lower case letter ... that kind of situation. As a teacher, I always see my colleagues entering o as 0 and not being able to upload a class from the student information system. Last resort: call Disney tech.

I just came across this awesome thread. I am pretty much a WDW newbie, having had just a taste of the parks last November. We were only there 5 days which was not nearly enough for a first time visit.
We are west coasters and have been to Disneyland many many times.

I am excited to learn of the SDFP. I read all the initial post...twice! and think I get how this works:

We have resort reservations for November 13-25. Got a good package deal, I think. We have our MB's from last trip. I did link current rez to MDE.
I wouldn't have done this if I had found this thread before that, but if I understand correctly, its not a huge deal. Because I can use old MB, with additional family listed, for everything, and use new MBs disney will send me for new reservation for SDFP by creating phantom names under family and friends.

Do I have the hang of this? Thank you so much to Scrapyap and EVERYONE who has taken precious time to create this thread and be so much help here. Greatly appreciated!

Oh, one more thing. When in the parks and making SDFPs at the kiosk, I can make up to 3 FPs per person and then after they are used up, add one at a time if I want? I doubt I would need to as I am making online FPs 60 days out. Just trying to get it in my head how this works. Thanks again! :hippie:

Sounds like you may not have a handle on SDFP yet. If your new package is on your MDE, you may already have listed the real profiles as the guests on that new reservation. So the new bands will be clones of last years bands.

well dang. lol. so I can't add phantoms on either MB? I will need to buy new MB's?
and here I thought I "had it" >blush<

So I am a SDFP newbie, but one thing I read on this thread is that you can add "phantom" children to your resort room reservation. This only works if you have 2-3 people in your room (I think some resort rooms have a max of 4 people and some have a max of 5 people). So you can add fake children to your reservation and then Disney will send you free bands for them. You can then use those bands for SDFPs. (I think I have that right!)

This is correct.

I guess this is what I meant in my first post. I probably said it wrong. Thanks!

Read thru post multiple times. I think I have it down. Pls confirm this scenario will work.

Going to parks with (4) people in 2017. Same (4) people went in 2016.

Normal FP will be made using MDE #2 which has 2017 resort / tickets / new bands.

Planning to make SDFP using old bands from 2016 that are linked to MDE #1.

MDE #1 - "DH" account
- Used last year (2016) for trip and has (4) linked Bands / tickets from that trip

- Has some ADRs for 2017

MDE #2 - "Moms" account
- never used / just setup for 2017

- has reservation for onsite hotel

- will have tickets linked to this account with (4) people for the 2017 trip

- will use these new primary bands for regular FP booking

You only get MagicBands from Disney for resort guests. So adding phantoms to an MDE with no resort reservation won't get you MBs. You don't have resort reservations on two MDEs? You said you have a package. If you add more guests to that reservation, you'll have to buy tickets for those guests. Those would be very expensive phantoms! Really, this is covered specifically in the first post. Your best bet will be to go back to it.

You've got it, Spartan. :)

It will be especially easy for you to keep track of which band is which, since the new ones will be Mach 2. Be careful never to give a front desk CM a 2016 MB or you may end up cloned.

if you want to have some fun, add several phantom people to your MDE account. Book a room only trip to the campsite for 6 weeks from now. Color code the bands - say you have three people going on your real trip get three pink bands and three orange bands. Once you get these bands cancel the trip. Viola, you have free bands for your next trip.... or you could just create a second MDE account and do the same thing.

I think this sort of scenario is discussed in the Throwaway Room thread. The SDFP thread doesn't include room cancellation as a recommended strategy. Personally, I wouldn't do it. If for no other reason - bands from cancelled room stays may be the first avenue shut down as the loop hole is eventually closed in the future.

We are a family of four. I originally set up four phantoms under my MDE account, but then I read the update about the change in October 2016 and thought it would be better to avoid the confusion involved in "un-checking" the primary profile at the kiosk. So, I set up a new MDE acct for one of my phantoms like the first post suggested, but when I invited my phantom to connect the MB disappeared from my phantom (on both the original MDE and the new one). I called Disney and they fixed it (whew), although the cast member (Bahama) didn't know why the MB had disappeared. Anyways, I digress ....

I've added my other three phantoms to the new MDE acct as "Family and Friends," although their MBs don't show up there because their plans are still managed by my original MDE. So here's my question. When I tap these three MBs at the kiosk after tapping the MB for my new phantom MDE acct, will it still pull up the original MDE acct that I'll need to un-check? Apparently, and according to Disney and the first post, there's no way to make these three phantoms managed by new MDE account.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. And thanks for the help.

The point of a separate MDE is to keep the profiles separate - so you don't want to connect the two MDEs. Functionally, being friends with a phantom MDE is just like having the phantoms on your primary MDE. I would attempt to "de-friend" the phantoms.

De-friend the phantoms from which MDE? The old one or my new one? I'm so confused . . .
