SDD FP Opinions Wanted!

I am pretty experienced with Fastpass, but this is our first time with Toy Story Land. I want to do it first thing in the morning. Right now I have a Fastpass for SDD for 4:35. May or may not be able to refresh it to get earlier in the day. Should I just scrap this one and get Alien Saucers and just get to SDD first thing and stand in the line?? I hate to waste a Fastpass if I dont have to.

Keep the SDD FP.
Then, day-of, if you DO get to ride SDD at rope-drop... THEN, change that SDD FP to something else.
(Virtually anything else's FP will be easier to get, same-day.)

I would never give up a hard to get FP. There are so many other factors that could blow up a plan to do it standby (mechanical issue, weather etc.). As long as you are not committed to riding attractions multiple times, it is really quite simple to do all rides at HS in a day with minimal wait and only using your original 3 FPs. Rope drop the 3 rides you don't have FPs for and use your FPs as they are scheduled. Fill in the empty time between rope drop and FPs with the shows, which almost never would require a wait, let alone a FP.

Thank you everyone!! I plan to rope drop SDD. I want to do AK in the afternoon/evening possibly so can always try to change SDD to something else if possible.

I agree with everyone else, there is not another Tier 1 that I would give up my FP to SDD for. AlienSS is really not worthy of a Fastpass, definitely not a Tier 1. If you are going to AK and not going to be there for the afternoon FP, then you might want to do something differently, but otherwise I'd hold it.

Have you tried modifying the FP to see if there are earlier times? When I booked my FPs last week, I continually modified them until I got the times I was hoping to get. (This was my first experience booking FP in advance - but thanks to the message boards, I learned about FP refreshing -- which I can't wait to try in the parks in October).
