Some of you are missing the point. The point is not to make the customer an even-steven deal with Disney. The point is to make the customer happy.
If you told me, well, there were no characters, but you DID get to eat dinner, I would not be happy. It's not so much going 'above and beyond' as making the customer feel valued intead of gypped.
