With the new screening machines, is it safe to let a camcorder & camcorder tapes go through the machine or will they get damaged? What about disposable cameras? I'm bringing several of both films and borrowing a camcorder and do not want to damage or expose anything.

With the camcorder, no problem. Just this year alone, it has gone though the machines 5 round trips (latest being last month. Have not seen a problem with the tapes.

We had disposable cameras go through earlier this year with no problem. Don't know if the screening machines have gotten more powerful since then.

I have not flown since last September and we did not have a camcorder with us, so I just wanted to be prepared. Thanks again!!

Camcorder & Tapes, Film and cameras all can go through the screening machines in carry-on's unless you have extremely high speed film (ISO 1000 will be okay going through). But DO NOT put film or tapes in checked luggage as the higher powered machines will damage them. Also, take the film out of the boxes and cases and pack it in clear freezer type bags so if you do get pulled out for extra checks it will go faster. Simply put the empty cannisters and cases into your checked luggage.
