screen for front car window

I don't know where to really post this but since I always am on the budget thread and I don't want to waste my money....you know the long cardboard thing that you put in your front window when you leave the car for the day, does it really keep your car cool. I am going to be driving to the parks each day and was wondering if it would be wise to invest my money into this.

I started using one while parking at work lately and it does make a difference. I wouldn't say the car is actually cool but it is cooler than not having it and I find the AC cools the inside down much faster.

My only problem is getting the darn thing in place as mine keeps slipping.

I wouldn't say the car is cool...however, you won't be burning your hands on a hot steering wheel, and the A/C cools things down much faster. I use mine all the time.

I use one, too, and it definitely makes a difference. The way our parking lot is, the sun comes in my car more from the side, so my steering wheel and anything in my center console also bakes during the day. In addition to the screen, I have started throwing a towel over my steering wheel and sort of draping it across the console. Makes a huge difference at the end of the day!

I also have an overhead storage thing in my car for sunglasses. When I put those on at the end of the work day they would about fry my face! I have started taking my sunglasses into the office with me to keep them nice and cool.

A word of wisdom, don't get the cardboard one, get the silver one. I lived in Vegas my whole life and I think 20 years ago they started with those cardboard ones and they worked "ok"...now everyone has the silver more felxible ones. It won't as mentioned keep your car cool, but it definitly helps so that it doesn't get scorching hot and they work sooooooo much better than the cardboard things, plus they are bigger and stretch all the way across your dash. I have had mine now for about 10+ years and it is still in great shape. I use it all the time (well not in the winter), even when I run into the grocery store! YES, they are worth it!!!!
You can get them at Walmart, target, Home Depot.

They're really not all that expensive. You can likely get a junky cardboard one for under $5 and they do keep the sun off the steering wheel and seats. Unless you park under a tree it's worth it. We use ours all the time even when the cars are in the driveway. We have the black/silver nylon ones that twist and fold up. I think they run about $10-15 but I've had it for so many years I can't remember exactly.

I have a gold Camry and I got a fold up gold screen at Target yesterday for $7.99.

I have one and LOVE it. It has Hello Kitty and I got it at Target. It pops up and folds with an elastic band for easy storage.
