Screamin'... will it scare my 9 and 11 year olds to death? lol

They've had the 5-4-3-2-1 announcement for quite a few years letting you know when its going to launch. Just keep head back and its never a problem when you expect it.

Get ready Screamers! Head back face foward and hang on! Launch in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

Tip to parents....don't turn to make sure your kids have THEIR head back....when it takes off, YOUR head needs to be back & eyes forward as well. :thumbsup2

There's a good chance they will absolutely love it...my (tall) girls have been riding it since we first went...so they were maybe 6 and 8, with no coaster experience.

I say go for it!

If they liked EE, they will love Screamin. Awesome roller coaster, I rode it 5 times on my trip last week! I really didn't like the Matterhorn.

Thanks. I did o.k. with Test Track, but I wouldn't have done it twice in a row or anything. There were a few spots that could have been iffy. Same with BTMRR. I am also concerned about Matterhorn and Indy. It's hard to know sometimes what will give me a neck ache and what won't.

Indy is very rough and jerky. Have you been on Dino at Animal Kingdom at WDW? Similar ride cars but I think Indy jerks you around more.

Matterhorn is a rough coaster. Rather slow with no drops though. Not scary at all but is rough.

Space Mountain is smooth and shouldn't be a problem. Now I did find Space at WDW very rough. Disneylands version is far better in almost every way.

Screamin is really smooth. I would let your kids stand on the pier and watch the ride before they go on it. Its a total crapshoot on who likes it and who doesn't me and my oldest love it, my husband would rather have dental work done than ride it again.

That's how I feel about coasters!! My one son really wanted to ride this back in November but I was too chicken as was his twin brother. This time the one who was too scared now says he would like to ride it in July when we go. My fear is that once he is on it, he will be absolutely terrified and of course, at this point it is too late to get off. I just don't want him to be so scared that he crys his way through the ride - I know, its the mothering instinct in me, most of the Dad's reading this will say "just suck it up!!"

I skipped Dino at WDW for that very reason, I'd heard it was jerky. I am debating skipping Matterhorn and letting them do it if it's open. I almsot hope it is closed for refurbishment when we're there, then I don't have to decide. lol We skipped Space at WDW for their ages/fears, and for what I'd heard about the jerkiness.

It all depends on your kids. My two kids, also ages 11 and 9, are complete opposites. My 11 yo daughter REFUSES to even discuss riding Screamin, while my 9 yo son would live on the ride. If they didn't want to ride RnR, they may not want to ride Screamin either, but then again they are older now. I would encourage them, but don't force the issue. You can always split up and hit two different rides at the same time and then meet up afterwards.

We just returned and my 6yo & 9yo (who have never been on big coasters) LOVed IT! To me, it was a very smooth ride, not a lot of jostling & bouncing.

Have you tried watching the Screamin' ride video on YouTube with your kids? Some of them are very good, and give you a great front-seat point-of -view.

The launch is the best part of the ride, IMHO. It is SOOO fun! The entire ride is really fun...a pretty mellow coaster, as far as coasters go. My 9 year old daughter rode it last summer, along with her 9 year old cousin (who, had never even been to ANY amusement park before, so obviously had never ridden a rollercoaster), and they both handled the loop just fine.

My Dad went to DLR with us 4 years before he passed away, and despite the fact that he was 70 years old and had 2 major back operations in the decade prior, he rode Screamin', and loved it.
