I'm very new to the world of scrapbooking. Instead of doing an autograph book, i had an idea to just buy a pack of pastel 8x8 cardstock for scrapbooking and have each character/princess sign a page. Then when we get home I can take each autograph page and devote an entire 12x12 page to each character/princess with a photo of DD with them in her scrapbook. This is her first trip and it's also a birthday trip for her so I want the scrapbook to do this trip justice. Is this a good idea? Does anyone have any suggestions? :)

I've seen people do this before. Sometimes they'll create the character's page before going down and the character will get very excited when they see what you've done. I'm planning on doing a scrapbook, and I think I might start making my pages before I go down.

It should work. We've done similar things and now have some very fun scrapbooks that capture great Disney memories.

One thing to keep in mind is that many of the characters will take up as much room as they are given when asked to sign - so if you hand them a 3x5 card, they fill it (quite easily, as that's a small space) and if you hand them an 8x8 card, they tend to fill it (with a larger autograph). So if you're going to collect autographs on cardstock that you'll take back home to put in the scrapbook, don't give them a piece of cardstock that's any larger than the space you plan to allocate for their signature on your scrapbook page. Otherwise there won't be any room leftover for pictures. :goodvibes

Also, we found that some characters draw more when they know that what they're signing is for a permanent keepsake rather than temporary. For example, when we gave Rafiki a blank page to sign, he simply signed "Rafiki," but when we asked him to sign a special Disney t-shirt he wrote his name and then took time to add a line-style drawing of baby Simba. So.... if you're brave enough to prep a scrapbook page ahead of time with stickers of particular characters, etc., (taking the chance that it could get lost, wrinkled, or otherwise mangled in transit), then you might end up with more elaborate/fancy signatures.

What a wonderful idea! We are not really into autographs, maybe when DS2 gets a little older. But I just know that it is going to be beautiful. And Disney puts out so much in the way of scrapbooking materials! Have fun!!!:yay:

Several of the ladies on here have done tags for the characters to sign to incorporate into their scrapbook pages...

They have cut the cards stock out into "index card" shapes (4x6 or 3x5).
If you have a cricut they have cut icons for characters. Such as Bow for Minnie to sign, Shorts or glove for Mickey, bone for Pluto, crowns for the princesses, shoes for the princes, honey pot for POOH, etc.

If you have the cricut most of us have cut the tags using George or Zoo Balloo at 5" inches. This gives them a good amount of space to sign.

Most of us have also made the tag/icon/autograph areas color coordinate to the character.

As PP have stated if you give the characters a lot of room they will use as much space as possible...

I also waited to decorate the tags until I returned home for fear they would write on my stickers..

If you opt to do this make sure you take a clipboard or something very sturdy for them to sign on... There is a thread called "tips/techniques/" if you open it up in the index is a link for altered clipboards that several of us have done for the trips.. They make for great ice breakers with the characters... My DS12 had Donald throwing a fit (cut from the cricut) and Donald loved it... even acted it out!! My DS8 had Goofy and it went over well... Goofy laughing @ Donald throwing a fit..and goofy acting like a goof w/ DS8... Hook enjoyed seeing DD15's Tink clipboard...

Hope this helps a little!!!

My friend took pillow cases. She had a clip board & fabric pens. When she got home, she had them embroidered w/ each childs name & the date of the trip. Its so neat b/c her kids sleep on them everynight & know all the characters signatures.

Someone else posted this & I thought it was such a neat idea. You have these printed at your photo place (Walmart, etc) as 4x6 photographs. Also, make sure you buy a retractable sharpie that way no worries of loosing the cap. Some of the characters have a hard time w/ the smaller sized pens b/c its hard for them to grip.

Here's her post:

Disney Autograph Book pages - DIY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I understand from a friend who has searched relentlessly on this site, that the DIS member who originally created these is no longer posting/her link is dead. I used these great autograph pages earlier this year, and created my own autograph book.

I DID NOT MAKE THEM - I CAN NOT CHANGE THEM and ALL CREDIT BELONGS VARIOUS OTHER DIS'ERS!

http://s266.photobucket.com/albums/i...graph Pages/

I printed them all as 4 x 6 and bought for $1 a 100 page hardback photo album which we decorate with Disney stickers. The total cost was about $13

Waiting in line, we removed the correct page, used the book for support and the character signed the page with our retractable Sharpie. They were very well received by the characters and their handlers!

If you have a SAM's Club card, I also have them loaded as an album online - if you PM me with your email address, I can share it with you so you don't have to download and reload these images. I don't check in every day so please be patient!
