Hey from the Teen Board! My friends who are boy scouts are considering going to Disney world and staying at FW. Were from NY. What cabin do you reccomend and how many will fit? I will most likely be accompanying them on the trip.

When I was a scout, we did a troop summer trip to WDW. We stayed in group campsite at FW. It was the best camping experience I can recall. You should see if you can get the whole troop to skip the normal summer camp and do WDW instead.
:hippie:

They only allow 6 guests plus one infant per cabin...I maxed that out2adults, 2teens, 2kids, 1baby.....I wouldnt try to fit even one more baby....the walls were buldging with us 7.

The cabins are full fledged stand alone homes with full kitchens, a living room, a bath, a bedroom, and full housekeeping each day. There is a double bed and a set of bunks in the bedroom, and a double murphy bed in the living room. The price ranges are $255 - $395 per night.

Now, if that's what you were expecting, fine. But if you were just expecting "cabins" with cots, then this is not what you need.

Fort Wilderness has a group camping area at $10 per night per person with a large area to set up tents, a full shower house, available water, and picnic tables and fire pits.

Also many Scout troops also elect to book several campsites in the partial hookup loop where there is a driveway, electric and water at each site, and an area to set up tents at each site. 10 people are allowed at each site and two large tents and a dining fly are allowed at each site. When I was at Disney last, there was a large troop that were spread out in several sites with one site set up as the "kitchen" and the rest set up with tents. The sites range from $42 per night up to about $80 per night per site.

Depending on when you go and how you set up the number of people on each campsite it could be cheaper to stay in the partial hookup sites. 10 people @ $10 = $100 for the group area while 10 people at a partial hookup may only be $42 to $80. It would depend on the numbers per site and how many are adults - you're allowed 2 adults per site at the partials. Each additional adult is $10. I believe they may also have some special benefits for certain groups available in the group area. Contact FW for better details, although someone on this forum may already know and I'm sure they will speak up.
