Our last trip to the Fort was back in November 2020 for Thanksgiving. We were going to take a break from the Fort for a while, but...

Since then, we lost our Great Pyrenees Duke, my oldest son was hospitalized with staph cellulitis and came close to going septic and losing his leg (he’s okay now). We lost my mother in law a few weeks ago. We were really in need of a get away and some fun times.

We booked the Fort for 3/25-3/28 but then decided to come in on the 24th instead. And then I went and broke my toe on Sunday 3/21. The doc said it was a complete break with displacement, it had to be set and Buddy taped. She put me in a shoe cast until I can get to a foot and ankle doc. I wasn’t letting anything keep me from a much needed get away, so I went online and booked a scooter.

When check in day finally arrived, I had to work, so DH drove over Wednesday morning and got the camper set up. I came over with the dogs and one of my sons in the evening.

This is Bo’s first time camping with us and he was a little nervous but I think he’ll love it.

Here’s a pic of my ride for the next few days.

I noticed some work was being done on the fire pits.

Very sorry to hear about your close call with your son's leg, losing your Mother-in-law and also losing Duke. Pain aside, breaking a toe seems minor compared to the mental anguish and stress all this has caused you and your fam. Time now to thoroughly enjoy FW.

I hope Bo is adapting to ADVENTURING. The Savage Sisters went on their first 5 days after we got them. They Loved it. Going out and exploring the Wilderness ( Katie earned the Nickname Commando Kate by dropping down when it was convenient and low crawling to her next objective. Golf Cart rides were quickly discovered to be a , and remain a favorite activity. Today when the see the leashes come out they they head right for the coach once we get out the door

Bo is learning to live the camping life. But he steals my side of the bed, he’s my husband’s baby and I end up on the dinette bed, with my foot, it’s probably better that way for now.
He’s been to the dog park twice but not too many dogs there when we’ve gone. He’s a very playful guy so I hope we can get him there with other dogs to play with.

I have just laughed my butt off. Our WookieBear, when she could get on the bed would get up against me and try to push Lucille out of the bed. Many other mornings I would wake up being spooned by the dog instead of my wife. Lucille swore she wasn't my dog but my daughter.
The Savages love the dog park . Katie has gotten into the the idea of playing to an extent ,but if she can find a younger male her inner COUGAR comes out. Sky prefers older more mellow dogs .

I park hopped this afternoon from animal kingdom to magic kingdom. Couldn’t get over how sparse the crowd was on Main Street. Just went to check it out and get a dole whip and water. Wife flys in tonight from Chicago. I hope she’s ready for some heat!
