Scott Peterson Might Be the Ideal Husband

Perhaps then, Greta will be talking bout it tonight.

Unless there's a major world catastrophe, I think you can count on it. ;)

I appoint you guys to give a daily update. I had not heard almost 90% of this.
I was sure thinking that there would be some very interesting things revealed when the trial finally got underway. Guess I was not wrong.
At least SP knows how to play golf. That will come in handy when he is out there "looking for the real killer". Maybe he and OJ can start their own detective firm.

:p Ain't that the truth?

I haven't been following the trial (just heard the stuff in the year or so leading up to it). What bugs me is that he doesn't seem savvy enough to cover his trail completely so I would expect more evidence to be presented than what I've already heard. Otherwise, I am afraid some could find reasonable doubt. (especially since they can't determine if the baby was born alive and what Laci's cause of death was)

I think the straw that broke the camel's back was when they found the bodies of his wife and son he was driving to Mexico. Now let's think this through. The police say they've found bodies that match the description of your wife and son and you're driving to Mexico? I don't know about the rest of society but I think an innocent man would have been sitting at the police station waiting for a positive ID, not trying to leave the country.

There is no doubt in my mind that this man is guilty, what kind of man sells his missing wife's car when he's supposed to be looking for her? Ya know what kind? the kind that KNOWS she's not coming home and won't be needing that vehicle anymore.

BTW is the case being aired on Court TV?

Nope. No cameras in the courtroom.

But the updates on Greta Van Susteren's show each night are very thorough.

Thank you. What time and channel is her show?

Okay - here's a perfect example of how infrequently the word "missing" is used.....

***Names have been changed to protect indentities***

The place where my DD (we'll call her "Nancy") worked until just a few days ago is located in a rather rough area of a major city here.. She often had shifts that would run until midnight or later..
She would then take the 20-minute drive home to her house via the Thruway (which can be a very dark and scary place late at night..) Her DH (we'll call him "Dan") would always wait up for her until she got there safely..

So - one summer I'm up to the lake - about 50 miles north of their home.. At 4 o'clock in the morning, the phone rings and it's "Dan".. He says, "Is Nancy up there? She hasn't come home from work and she hasn't called.." (**Note: He did not say Nancy is "missing"..)

What had happened was Nancy HAD in fact called Dan and told him that she would be very late getting out of work and therefore was going to spend the night at her best friend's house rather than driving the Thruway when she was exhausted.. The problem is, "Dan" has a daily medication that he has to take for a lifelong health problem and it causes memory problems.. He fell asleep on the couch after she called, woke up at 4 a.m., and forgot that she HAD called..

Still - it was 4 a.m. - he had no idea where his wife was - no recollection of the phone call - yet when he called me, he did NOT say, "Nancy is missing ..."

Moral of the story? Scott Peterson is lying through his teeth!

I hate replying negatively to posts because people always assume that I'm trying to defend Scott Peterson. Please know, I think he's guilty. I really do, I just think it's not the slam dunk case that the prosecution says it is.

Anyway, Scott was arrested in San Diego. Scott was born and raised in San Diego. Scott's parents and other family members live in San Diego. The police believe he was thinking of fleeing to Mexico, but he was not fleeing there when he was arrested. He had in his possession $10,000, which he claims he got when he sold some golf membership back or something like that. I can't find links to tell me exactly when he sold that back though, but I think (could very well be wrong) that he sold it around this time. He also had his brothers drivers license on him. He says he was going golfing to a particular golf course and you can't get on the course without ID. His brother gave him his, according to Scott, so he didn't have to alert everyone that he was there. I also read he had an application, to apply for a visa and I think that too might have been in his brothers name. Not real sure though. Anyway, point being, the police can make a case that he was trying to flee, but I doubt they'll be able to prove it. Again, I might be wrong. It depends on those jurors!

How long would YOU carry around $10,000?! Not long I presume.

LOADS of circumstantial, OBVIOUS evidence (to you & I), but circumstantial nonetheless. Unfortunately, unless they get 12 of US, he MIGHT go free...aka OJ. :(

Sad, SAD story. :(

JUST mho.

Scott Peterson makes me sick...

I could be totally wrong, but I have a gut feeling this is not going to be another OJ...I think he is going to be found guilty. Especially if he testifies.

Well as long as Furhrman isn't on the Modesto PD, Scott Peterson should be pretty well cooked.

They gave him $10,000 in cash? Has that been verified?

Sadly, his brother will probably say this is true whether it's a lie or not.

I also read he had an application, to apply for a visa and I think that too might have been in his brothers name.

Now why would that be? It sure doesn't seem like something an honest, upstanding citizen would be doing.

Anyway, point being, the police can make a case that he was trying to flee, but I doubt they'll be able to prove it.

I don't doubt it at all.

So, wait a minute, let me get this straight....this is his story? While the police were pulling his wife and unborn baby out of the water, which we all knew about, he was going golfing? How anybody could doubt his guilt is beyond me.

(sssssssshhhhhhhhh......when I'm not on the Dis, I'm on the CTV message boards - I'm addicted to this case for some strange reason)

I love the CourtTV boards too. If you see a post by "Channel81", that's me!

Its still going to be hard to prove he did it with no forensic evidence in the house, even though a body was found, if there's no blood or weapon in the home, its hard to prove he did it.

If you remember Tom Capano's trial had no body, but its the blood that they found in his house that hung him.

I don't think your trying to defend SP. I agree with you on the circumstantial case and that the Prosecution has an uphill battle. Just one little thing can cause "reasonable doubt." I just won't allow myself to think that that COULD happen.

Along with the cash and brother's ID, there was also camping equipment in the car, a water purifier, lots of clothes, a family members credit card, a snorkel (they have not said yet which family member), etc. I think with all this stuff the Jury will see that he was planning on fleeing, not just going golfing. I am anxious to see what the police officer who arrested him will testify as to what EXACTLY was in the car - it will be an eye opener to the Jury if there were no golf clubs in the car (which I don't think there were).

I also read a thread on the CourtTV message board this morning that I thought was interesting. During testimony it's been said that the first call Scott made that afternoon upon returning home from his "so-called fishing trip" that he actually called Laci's sister, not her Mom and if that is so, the transcripts show that Laci's sister asked SP "is she at Mom's house" and he replied "no." Now, if he called Laci's sister before her Mom how would he know that Laci was not at her mother's house UNLESS he ACTUALLY KNEW where Laci was (Fraudian slip, maybe). (give you something to think about)

I post under "indallas" on the CTV boards.

You know, I think the Prosecution has something they managed to keep a lid on. In the Prosecutions opening statements they refer to the gun they found in SP truck, loaded. I never thought the gun was used but I guess you never know. This trial gets more interesting day by day.

Just in case any of you want to watch - Larry King LIve is going to have the usual panel on tonight for the entire hour regarding this case. Nancy Grace, Chris Pixley and the rest of the gang will be talking tonight.
