My 7yo dd has a two wheel scooter she loves to ride (it's even a disney scooter):moped: :moped: :moped: . In October, we have reservations at SSR and I was wondering if she can bring this to scoot around SSR. Maybe even ride this to the downtown disney area (as I walk). I can understand not allowing these in the parks as they are much more crowded. Anyone know if these are allowed? or would this be just too much trouble?

Thanks

From WDW check-in information:

"Florida law does not permit in-line skating on roadways or parking lots. Please see a Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning in-line skating and scooters, as well as appropriate locations."

I doubt that DD would be a good location for a scooter due to the generally heavy foot traffic. Some of the pathways at SSR might be safe and allowed though. I'm sure she could use the SSR/OKW walkway along the canal. Just ask one of the Recreation CMs - I'm sure they can advise.

Have a great trip! :)

My children used scooters at POR without a problem and there were also lots of kids on bicycles. I agree that DTD wouldn't be a good idea. It can be quite crowded and I have no doubt security would stop you.

On another interesting note, there are signs prohibiting the use of Segways at DTD but that didn't stop the Disney exec in a suit from breezing past us at high speed!

Segway use by Disney personnel is quite different from the occasional guest with one.

They don't allow bicycles at DTD, so I'd venture a guess that scooters would not be allowed as well. Except for ECVs (which lots of people call scooters).

I say leave the scooter at home for this trip.

There are signs posted at both sides of DTD that bicycles are not allowed, along with all other wheeled apparatus (save ECV's of course) There are bike racks at each end of DTD.

The pathways at SSR are also the paths for the Surrey Bikes. The trail to OKW is a Nature Trail that runs along the canal to POR and OKW.

SSR paths also intermingle with Golf Cart paths in spots, and a good bit of it runs along the main street.

At 7 she may be really nervous with all that happening around her. We rented bikes in Hilton Head over Mem. Day and you would have thought my 9 year old DS had never rode a bike before (he zips up and down or cul with ease) but he was pretty scared riding that 1 mile to the beach because of the cars and people on the path. We rode behind him the whole way. He shook and swerved the parts he did not push the bike.

He rode in the car on the way back, and my 30 year old niece had to ride his kiddie bike back:rotfl: She looked like she was riding a clown bike, but DS wanted no parts of it!

Sorry to be such a downer, but I have never seen a child ride on anything at SSR, except an ECV, Surrey Bike, Bicycle, or shoulders:goodvibes

I think I would leave the scooter at home. Last visit my daughter came back to our room telling me of a young lady on wheels who was approached by the "guards" (her words) and was told she needed to walk when at Disney...

I agree with leaving the scooter at home. They may be ok within the resort but I don't think they would be allowed at DTD. Our dd has those wheeled running shoes and they are definitely not allowed.

To avoid your dd feeling the disappointment of being denied, probably easier to leave at home. DTD can be as busy if not busier than than the parks !!
