Has anyone ever had a hard time getting on the boats with a scooter when you stay at Wilderness Lodge? We would like to stay there once but only can if that is never a problem.

I stayed there with an ECV last January. I had no problems at all, but it was an uncrowded time. You may have to wait for another boat as you can only ride on the larger boat. Those come every other one. When I was there the other boat would come in just a few minutes so it was still quite a quick way to MK. The buses were very good as well. They do make other stops on the way to where you are going. When I was there, WL was always the first stop so I never had a problem getting on a bus. I don't mind riding a few minutes more. I loved WL and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

There are 3 types of boats and the ECV can only go on the largest. CM's are very accommodating. DW and I went down to the dock and one of the CM's radioed the boat captain of the large boat and they came over in reasonable time.

This will normally take longer unless co-incidentally you arrive and the big boat is coming to the dock. we have also taken the bus from WLV to GF and grabbed the monorail for EP.

Are they now using THREE different boats to the MK? Or are you referring to the boat from the WL to the Contemporary Resort?

i have used an ECV on the larger boats that go to campground and most of the time they also stopped at the Lodge. the boat can only hold 2 or 3 ECV's. so you could have to wait for next boat. if i remember correctly, you are first on and last off. it can be a little tricky getting on and off but that should not stop you from enjoying.

There is more information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread, which is near the top of this board or you can follow the link in my signature. As was mentioned, WL is served by several different types of boats. One type is small and is not accessible - it has a step down to get into the boat and only folded wheelchairs that can be lifted into the boat can get on.
The other type is larger and can load wheelchairs and ECVs.

The order of loading and unloading on the larger boats depends on the water levels. If the water level is high, they may load all the other passengers first so their weight makes the boat float lower in the water, closer to the level of the dock. For unloading in that situation, they would unload the ECV or wheelchair first.
The boat captains are very good and have a lot of ways to get the boat and dock fairly level for loading and unloading.
