Hi all,

This Christmas my entire family will be joining together to celebrate!

I have some concerns regarding transportation and any ideas would be appreciated.

I have 3 elderly family members who will be joining us.
They all have rented scooters.

My question is can the buses handle 3 scooters or we will have to divide them up to catch different buses?

Thanks,
Red!!

I am sure someone will come along with a definite answer, but I believe that each bus can handle 2 scooters.

DH and I both rent scooters and after we've boarded there's been room left over on the buses. You might ask this question on the disabilities board and see what other opinions you get.

All buses added since 2009 can accommodate 3 wheelchairs. Currently, that's about 1/4 of the active fleet.

The third slot is smaller than the other two. It should be OK for travel size scooters, but some larger scooters might not fit.

If an older bus pulls up, or if another scooter/wheelchair is ahead of you, then you have the choice of splitting up or waiting for a newer bus with all 3 slots available. If you wait, there's no guarantee how many buses you'll have to wait through.

There's also a limit of 6 additional people per scooter per bus, the remainder will need to stand in the regular line. This rule was instituted since our last visit.

Right. Scooters are loaded before other passengers whenever possible, and in most locations the bus driver has no way of knowing whether the scooter arrived before or after other guests waiting.

Each scooter takes up 3 seats, so if you have 6 guests for each of 3 scooters, that's 9 seats for the scooters + 18 for the guests = 27 seats. Most Disney buses only have around 30 seats total.

If a driver sees a scooter just arriving at a queue that already has a full bus load waiting, the scooter party may be asked to wait for the next bus.
