I have not been happy with them. I have a friend who’s mobility is much worse than mine, and she’s a worrier. She’s worried she cannot walk to our villa when arriving. If I can tell her that there are many people who have had good experiences, perhaps that will help. She could get from Scooterbug and know she’ll have it from the arrival.

Please post! I am getting weary of dealing with this. WDW has changed so much, and each is a trigger for my friend’s anxiety. There are 5 of us on this trip. Another friend is very health challenged, but that gal has more money to spend, and rolls with the punches.

I found Gold Mobility to be be on time (pre-covid trips). I waited in the lobby for them where they said to wait. They were cheaper than some other companies for my trip - not sure how they currently all compare in price. Perhaps calling Gold or other scooter companies you prefer to use and ask them about the issue and see what they say about how accurate their arrival times are.

Would bell services be able to take her over in golf cart to the room and bring her back to pick up a scooter? Is she arriving by car?

I have not rented from Scooterbug and based on the number of bad experiences with them posted on here, would not. My preferred vendor is Gold Mobility. YMMV.

Two options to consider:

1. If your arrival times align, rent form a reputable outside vendor like Gold who has flexible meet times (vs the more fixed times of some other vendors) and who will arrange to meet your friend as they arrive. They would then have the scooter right away.

2. This is a more expensive option. Rent from Scooterbug for the first night. Therefore it will be there at arrival. Return it the next day. That same next day receive a scooter for the rest of the stay from a reputable outside vendor like Gold. This option means you pay for that extra one night of Scooterbug rental, in exchange for the peace of mind of having the ECV waiting for you at Bell Services and not having to time arrival with a meeting with the rental company (until the next day which would presumably be much easier to do).

ETA: Scooterbug one day rental of a "Resort ECV" is $50, plus optional $5 for damage waiver; I assume there is also taxes. Minimum rental is 1 day.

Go with Gold Mobility, they will meet you on your schedule (although if you have a late or early flight, sometimes you will need to work something out), they have seriously upgraded equipment with fan, cell phone holder, undercarriage lighting (makes you much more visible), cup holder, 4.ponchos and some shower caps for covering you and the tiller in the rain and if you need they will provide an accessory like a sunshade at no extra cost, on the victory 10/10.2 model you get a captains chair at no extra cost. They will text or call you the day before, whichever you prefer to confirm and then you text or call them when you are leaving the airport and they will generally be there when you arrive or within a few minutes.

They have a flat rate for the first 7 days, then a cheap rate for each additional day. Through the end of the month they have a sale going on if you book through their website. Note that booking online, they will charge you right away, but they will refund if you need to cancel for any reason.

Also, if you do have a flight that arrive later than they deliver, bell services at most of the resorts can help you get to your room and Gold Mobility will bring the scooter to your room the next morning or bell services can help you get back to the front, whichever is best.

There is a reason Gold Mobility gets nothing but 5 star reviews and has an A+ rating with BBB while Scooterbug gets mostly 1 and 2 star reviews and an F with BBB.

I've rented from scooterbug twice for my 80 year old grandma and both times have been fine. We rented a collapsible scooter so we could put in my car and drive to the parks but the first time it wouldn't collapse so I called them and they met us at animal kingdom and exchanged the scooter for another within an hour rather than the 4 hours quoted. Worked great for the rest of the weekend we had. The second time it was just fine, an older model I think but it was fine for grandma. She really wanted it be able to be there whenever we got there and to just drop it off when were ready to go home.

I am reading every answer. Thank you for everything so far.

They have a rental car for arrival, but I have ME for them as a back up. The one day rental sounds like a good idea if she will go with it. I will be using Gold for the first time in October, so I will have a better understanding of their delivery then.

Just thinking they could use the car to get back and forth from check in to the room (maybe? depends on resort somewhat). At least I've done this and would drive back and forth to my room to get to the main building (for example) at Coronado. I tried to get a room close to a parking lot - that worked best for me! I've had pretty decent luck with that strategy at other resorts as well. I don't know if she plans to use airport assistance to meet her with a WC and that gets her to the rental car ... but if anyone in the party is able to push a WC she could consider bringing one from home (rent one locally or perhaps borrow one?) - obviously only works if someone can push!

Sorry, but I can't recommend Scooterbug. When I was in AK on my Gold Mobility scooter, a man came up and started talking (rather, venting). He said that if someone asked him about renting from Scooterbug, his answer would be "don't". However, I CAN strongly recommend Gold Mobility. No, they don't leave the scooter at Bell Services, but every time I've gone, we've texted back and forth and they've arrived within 10 minutes after I get there and meet me on the nearest bench (that's about as far as I can walk, and at that I need a cane) to where I got off DME or Uber. Besides, the one time I went with a company that left my scooter at Bell Services (pre-Gold Mobility), my key was lost and I waited almost 1/2 hour for them to find another key that worked.

OP here, and I will tell my friend all about the reviews here, and then she has to decide. I cannot recommend Scooterbug and many here feel exactly the same way.

Thank you.

Bobbi

My companion and I rented from ScooterBug last April, with no issues at all. Scooter was at resort when we arrived, and when we were finished, we dropped off at Bell Services. No issues the entire trip. I have two more trips coming up that I will also use ScooterBug.

Your input helped us decide on changing to Gold Mobility . We rented 4 scooters and it was a totally seamless experience. Way nicer rentals than we have ever rented, cheaper, and all sorts of extra stuff. We really appreciate it. Thanks Again!

Just a quick report on our experience last week with Scooterbug.

We had two scooters ordered, and when we arrived both were waiting for us. We noticed that one seemed to have a bit of play in the steering column, but seemed overall in good shape. That scooter was definitely faster than the other one too when we had both turned to the highest speed setting - not that you can use that setting for much other than long drives - parks are way too crowded.

Over the course of the week, the looseness did become an issue, and we called right away in the morning for a replacement, which was delivered within a couple hours. No problem, as we were not going to the park right away. (The replacement was also faster than my scooter, not that it was a big deal, but still... nice to have them both going the same speed rather than constantly adjusting and altering). Still faster than the ones you rent in the parks.

Both had some battle scars from usage, but again, nothing out of the ordinary, and I probably put a few new little marks on mine during our week from bus loading and unloading.

Overall, we found the company to be very responsive, and it was great to be able to just pick them up and drop them off at bell services.

I've used Scooterbug I think for 4 or 5 trips now, and will continue to use them as I value the convenience of the delivery and pickup service.

A couple of hours? No, 30 minute average should be the standard response time. And shouldn't have been delivered in thst condition in the first place in my opinion.

Wow, 2 hours! That not acceptable at all. I agree. Even the worst company I used past only had us waiting 30 minutes.

Exactly, I mean I get there might be a one off, but DH has seen a lot of people on FB complain that Scooterbug takes 2 hours or more to resolve any issues.

Glad others have had good results with different vendors.

My purpose in posting my results with ScooterBug (and it's really all relative, isn't it?) is that I feel my results fit my needs. It was not to begin again the debate on whether or not ScooterBug meets everyone's wants/needs. 2 hours was perfectly acceptable to wait for a replacement as I called at 7 AM and they had it to me in time for our scheduled park day. We were not in a hurry to leave that morning, and had planned a breakfast at the resort.

I really don't feel I need to justify my feelings about whether or not this company works for me. Just reporting my experience. Others may have different experiences.

We all make our own choices.

would have you have felt differently if that 2 hours had been spent waiting sitting at a park not being able to enjoy your time? just wanting you to think why others are saying 2 hours is too long

I think the PP’s point is that they weren’t in a hurry and therefore probably set that time as it fit their needs. Nowhere was it mentioned the vendor refused or was unable to bring something sooner — that’s all speculation and assumption. The PP set up a time that worked for them and the vendor was able to resolve the issue. That’s end of story - which seems to be a happy-ending, right?

Yes ! Always a Happy Ending at Disney! No matter what happens.

Scooterbug isn't accredited by the Better Business Bureau. That to me is a huge red flag.
