Due to my personal scooter's shorter battery life, I rent a 3rd party ECV for use through the duration of my stay. I use mine to get through the airport to & from MCO and leave it parked in my hotel. Upon check in at my hotel around 10:30am, I mentioned I had reserved a scooter which was to be delivered that morning. It was brought out for me immediately. It was fully charged and in great shape. Upon getting my room assignment I left it in the lobby so I could park mine and take out necessary items. It was perfect at all WDW & Universal parks. At the end of my stay, I left it with baggage services and that was it. I had zero problems with ScooterBug - I'm using them again next month and will be trying Gold Mobility in June/July.

What make of ECV do you have that has the shorter battery life? Thinking of getting one for my mom to use at home, but don't want one with a short battery life. Glad Scooterbug worked well for you. The negative reviews here and on other websites make me very nervous about the company.

It's a VIVE 3 wheel transportable model made specifically for ease of coming apart. It's good for abour 5 hours of heavy use... That would be hills, faster speed, constant use. Around the house or general shopping I'd think it would be fine and would last longer. It's relatively light especially if transporting it is needed.
For times when I need a longer duration I'm good with renting a heavy duty one

Just wanted to add my latest experience with Scooterbug: My dates changed for my upcoming vacation starting 4/25 - adding another full day and a half! So I had to contact the various vendors to update my dates. When I went to scooterbug's website I was unable to find much information on how to make the change - I did find a page listing all my previous/current reservations but wasn't sure how to change it. I found a section to send a message - which I did with my reservation # and request to extend and got an email saying:
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in ScooterBug Rentals. One of our team members will be in touch soon.
Warm regards,
ScooterBug Customer Service
I hadn't heard back from them (24hrs later) so I went to the site again and found that the changes had in fact been made to my reservation and all I had to do was pay the additional day fee. I'm glad I checked.

If you need a confidence boost with using the new outside company you selected in June/July, We have been renting mobility scooters from Gold Mobility Scooters 5 times now, and never had a single problem. Three of our five rentals were for 4 scooters.

I have rented a scooter from Gold Mobility several times and never had a problem with the scooter! it'll last what seems like forever on a charge and I love the extras that come with it! charger for my phone, a phone holder, a drink holder and most of all....a fan! that puppy came in handy let me tell you! I also believe they are a bit cheaper then Scooter Bug but don't quote me on that. I'm renting again in September!

I agree. Several days we went 12 hours at the parks, and I still had a green light lit. We have never had that with any other mobility company we used in the past that's why we keep going back to Gold Mobility. Most other rental scooters we used to last us 6-8 hours if we were lucky.

UPDATE (Apr - May '22) I had previously posted above about adding a day to my scooter rental - (it turned out to be longer than that but I'll get to that) - I arrived at Coronado Springs and used my personal scooter to pick up the rental which was in their Bell Service area. First thing I noticed was the beat up condition of the scooter - tears, duct tape, dents - but I wasn't expecting a brand new one. It was a 3 wheeler as requested. Second thing I noticed (upon using it) is the front wheel felt very off - like sluggish - and for a moment I thought about calling for a replacement but it wasn't all that horrible. As I scooted more things were obvious - the scooter did not go as fast as most rentals I've used, but was certainly faster than WDW ones. The back up beep sounded like a louder than possible beep. My first day - with a full battery - the scooter decided it didn't want to go up the Monorail ramps from EPCOT to TTC - I'm talking dead stop where I had to push the button on the battery for it to become reborn. Going forward for the next steep trips I did use a slower speed which is probably better for me.
I also realized how many people are touching the scooter.. each attraction has someone moving it.. and I did not use hand sanitizer because I had an issue with my eye and sunscreen and the sanitizer got in my eye when I unconsciously rubbed it to remove the sunscreen. I did observe other scooters and must say that without exception the Gold Mobility scooters looked perfect. (I am using them next trip.) By day 4 my trip became a bit complicated because.. I GOT COVID19! So, bear with me for a short off-topic explanation. I'm double vax'd and double boostered because I am immunocompromised - I wear an N95 mask in ALL indoor locations and close outdoor ones. On the 3rd day of my trip my throat felt sore and I felt more fatigued than usual. Thinking it was my CUZ (my travel planner who had me going early in the AM, etc) I figured I'd just nap it off. The next day was slightly worse so I did return to my hotel for a nap and pulled out a do it myself test. OMG . So at that point I started my 5 day ISOLATION at the Coronadovirus Springs Resort. (I took 5 days of PAXLOVID) I do wonder if the aforementioned scooter touching had anything to do with it. Obviously even if this is the case it is not the fault of the vendor. Once I went into isolation I contacted Scooterbug and they had no problem extending my contract.
I think one of the most convenient parts of using SB is the ability to both pick up & drop off at Bell Service desk at resort. However, everything I've read indicates that Gold will work with renters regarding the time and I think the idea of a newer machine is worth the slight need of preplanning.

You won't be disappointed we went to Gold Mobility Scooters and we would never use and other company. No other company comes close to the service or the quality and cleanliness of their scooters.
