Scooter Rental Services

We arrive at Disney on Sunday and my daughter manager to injure her Achilles this week and will either need a wheelchair or scooter. I'm leaning towards a scooter since I don't really want to push around a wheelchair and wondered if anyone had experience/recommendations re scooter rental services. $50 a day for the Disney scooters is pretty pricey, although I'm considering whether I had rather pay that than go through the hassle of loading/offloading a scooter every time we go to a park.

Apple Walker Care medical are three that I can think of.
Only a limited amount of places are disney certified-- meaning they can be dropped off at bell service. Any other company you have to be present to accept delivery

I've used Buena Vista Scooters, Walker Mobility and Disneys. I was happy with all three of them. Disneys are a lot more expensive, and you don't have the hassle of driving it onto the bus. If you plan to go to Disney Springs, it's nice to have the offsite rentals because you have the scooter with you all the time.

Book an offsite rental with one of the approved places that can drop off. it will be waiting for you and you can just leave it at bell services when you leave. The buses aren't that bad except at the busiest times.

Tips: Carry the charger with you in case your battery does not make it all day. Teach her to start SLOW and only go faster when it is really clear around her. It is too easy to run into someone and a scooter will cause injury. The offsite ones can go faster than the onsite ones, too fast sometimes. Also teach her to always look behind before backing. People will always walk up on you and you WILL back into someone if you don't look first. Get off and roll it into tight parking spots like your hotel room.

If you go to the disABILITIES forum there is a FAQ sticky at the top with the names and contact info for the local off site vendors. This sticky also contains valuable information regarding accessibility of rides and transportation at WDW.

I would recommend getting one that she can use 24/7."Some of the resorts are quite large and require a long walk just to get to the bus stop. Then there is the walk from the bus to the park entrances.

How old is she? I believe she needs to be 18 or over to rent/operate a scooter.
