My MIL who is pooh sized will be using a scooter throughout our trip. She likes to ride IASW, POTC, HM, and another one I can't remember right off the top of my head. What is she supposed to do with the scooter? Does a CM take it around to the exit or how does that work? Thanks for any advice:)

Thank you:) One more question. Does the cast member do that or does she do that? Sorry to sound stupid but I have only dealt with a wheel chair at other amusement parks and we always had to go up the exit.

Hi, bobbiekins.

She likes to ride IASW. What is she supposed to do with the scooter?

If you are facing the It's A Small World, on the far right side is the main entrance for walkers. On the far left side is the exit. Just next to the exit, you may see a Castmember at a separate entrance with an accessible sign. They will direct you through this gate into a separate gate of the exit. Stay in the far right side and drive down to the bottom platform where you will stop at another chain gate.

You may see others exiting in the opposite direction as you drive down, but you will see markings on the ground of where you are to drive and sometimes a rope separates the two directions. Most walkers are not aware of why this rope is in the middle of the walkway, but that is alright.

Once you arrive at the bottom, wait for a Castmember to let you in and you park your scooter against the right wall. They might ask you if you can walk to the boat. I think that it is usually better to park by backing into the wall so that it will be easier to exit and allow more people to park next to you instead of parking sideways against the wall.

Then you wait for the Castmember to ask you to board the boat. Depending on how long the walker's line is, you may have to wait your turn depending on the Castmember. Then afterwards, you exit with all of the walkers out the regular exit, but try to stay on the right side in case other scooters are coming down like you did earlier on the opposite side.

I love the Pirates Of The Caribbean attraction, but since I am by myself, I have to walk through the ride since a scooter will not fit. I usually skip this ride, except for a slow night once a year.

As you reach the entrance on the right, a Castmember usually asks you to park your scooter on the left and then asks you if you can transfer to a wheelchair to enter the attraction.

Even when I decide to walk up the hilly entrance, I have to stop and rest and ask others to please pass me. This is just my personal preference, but even if I were in a group, I would feel bad having someone trying to push me up the hilly entrance to the attraction's boat.

But this is how I it.

As you reach the end of the ride, you will exit the store area and proceed to your right to your scooter. It can be a long walk for a few people, but entrance is much longer and hilly compared to the exit back to the scoter

There is an elevator on the exit side, but most people cannot use this unless they use a wheelchair. I have never seen anyone using the elevator before.

She likes to ride HM. What is she supposed to do with the scooter?

As you enter the Haunted Masion entrance, a Castmember may ask you if you can walk or transfer to a wheel chair. Since I am usually by myself, the Castmember will ask me to follow the normal line until you reach the haunted carriage on your right. You may see a chain gate here where you will stop and let other guests pass you on your left until another Castmember meets you. This Castmember will direct you to drive your scooter through the regular walker's exit to an area to park your scooter against a stone wall.

Then the Castmember may direct through a side door through an employee entrance to a door outside the rising room. They may ask you to wait here until another Castmember opens the door and then you walk the rest of the way. This is a shorter walk. You may also may be asked to wait by you scooter until someone comes to get you so that you won't have to stand in the employee hallway.

This has been my personal experience.

Sometimes I have seen others have their wheelchair meet them at the exit at the ride buggy and visa versa, but I have never done this.

I hope that I typed this correctly.

And this has just been my personal experiences and others may have different opinions or different experiences that they might want to share with you.

At the end of the ride, there you will exit toward the left side of the boat.
If you took a wheelchair into the line, it will be waiting on the left side along the wall.
If you do not have a wheelchair, there is a steep moving ramp that guests ride back up to the ground floor (the ride actually ends below ground). That empties into the store area that Ray mentioned.

I have seen guests with walkers use the elevator and we have to use it because DD has a wheelchair. I would not recommend using it unless you have a wheelchair because it lets you off in a very out of the way spot. You need to circle around by the bathrooms, which are on the very end of the building. Using the elevator will mean a much longer walk.

If you are able to stand for the preshow (about 5 minutes) and then walk about 200 feet in a darkened area to the boarding area, you can do what Ray said.
If you can’t walk or stand that long, tell the CM at the haunted carriage that.
The CM will have you park close to the exit and have you wait until the CM gets you to board. You will miss the preshow, but will be able to board at the exit where the CM can slow or stop the moving walkway so that you can get in more easily. They usually just slow the walkway - if it doesn’t look slow enough for you, let the CM know. When done with the ride, your ECV will be right where you left it.

Also, I just posted several items on page 2 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread that might be useful to you. It’s kind of a index of which attractions a guest can remain in an ECV for. There is a link to the disABILITIES FAQs thread in my signature.

THANK YOU!!!! You guys have been wonderful. I actually copied this and printed it out so I could have it at the park. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me, it means a lot.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Bobbie

I can't walk (balance issue), so I drive my scooter up to the ride and transfer. I make sure to turn the scooter speed way down, and the CM takes the scooter away. When the ride is done, the CM will bring the scooter over to me at the actual ride, and I transfer.

If my daughter is with me, I get on the ride first, then she. When the ride is over, she will get out to make sure the CM knows which scooter to bring over to me (sometimes there are quite a few there), or sometimes she will bring the scooter over to me herself.

If I transfer to a wheelchair from the scooter, the system works the same. I have to have the wheelchair brought to me at the ride.
