My MIL who is pooh sized will be using a
scooter throughout our trip. She likes to ride IASW, POTC, HM, and another one I can't remember right off the top of my head. What is she supposed to do with the scooter? Does a CM take it around to the exit or how does that work? Thanks for any advice
Hi, bobbiekins.
She likes to ride IASW. What is she supposed to do with the scooter?
If you are facing the It's A Small World, on the far right side is the main entrance for walkers. On the far left side is the exit. Just next to the exit, you may see a Castmember at a separate entrance with an accessible sign. They will direct you through this gate into a separate gate of the exit. Stay in the far right side and drive down to the bottom platform where you will stop at another chain gate.
You may see others exiting in the opposite direction as you drive down, but you will see markings on the ground of where you are to drive and sometimes a rope separates the two directions. Most walkers are not aware of why this rope is in the middle of the walkway, but that is alright.
Once you arrive at the bottom, wait for a Castmember to let you in and you park your scooter against the right wall. They might ask you if you can walk to the boat. I think that it is usually better to park by backing into the wall so that it will be easier to exit and allow more people to park next to you instead of parking sideways against the wall.
Then you wait for the Castmember to ask you to board the boat. Depending on how long the walker's line is, you may have to wait your turn depending on the Castmember. Then afterwards, you exit with all of the walkers out the regular exit, but try to stay on the right side in case other scooters are coming down like you did earlier on the opposite side.
She likes to ride POTC. What is she supposed to do with the scooter?
I love the Pirates Of The Caribbean attraction, but since I am by myself, I have to walk through the ride since a scooter will not fit. I usually skip this ride, except for a slow night once a year.
As you reach the entrance on the right, a Castmember usually asks you to park your scooter on the left and then asks you if you can transfer to a wheelchair to enter the attraction.
Even when I decide to walk up the hilly entrance, I have to stop and rest and ask others to please pass me. This is just my personal preference, but even if I were in a group, I would feel bad having someone trying to push me up the hilly entrance to the attraction's boat.
But this is how I it.
As you reach the end of the ride, you will exit the store area and proceed to your right to your scooter. It can be a long walk for a few people, but entrance is much longer and hilly compared to the exit back to the scoter
There is an elevator on the exit side, but most people cannot use this unless they use a wheelchair. I have never seen anyone using the elevator before.
She likes to ride HM. What is she supposed to do with the scooter?
As you enter the Haunted Masion entrance, a Castmember may ask you if you can walk or transfer to a wheel chair. Since I am usually by myself, the Castmember will ask me to follow the normal line until you reach the haunted carriage on your right. You may see a chain gate here where you will stop and let other guests pass you on your left until another Castmember meets you. This Castmember will direct you to drive your scooter through the regular walker's exit to an area to park your scooter against a stone wall.
Then the Castmember may direct through a side door through an employee entrance to a door outside the rising room. They may ask you to wait here until another Castmember opens the door and then you walk the rest of the way. This is a shorter walk. You may also may be asked to wait by you scooter until someone comes to get you so that you won't have to stand in the employee hallway.
This has been my personal experience.
Sometimes I have seen others have their wheelchair meet them at the exit at the ride buggy and visa versa, but I have never done this.
I hope that I typed this correctly.
And this has just been my personal experiences and others may have different opinions or different experiences that they might want to share with you.
