I hear ya on the trip report, I need to get back to mine too, just trying to find time!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

Have a great weekend :)

Good afternoon!

Completed the 12 miler this morning and here are the results:

1 - 8:18
2 - 8:50
3 - 8:37
4 - 8:35
5 - 8:41
6 - 8:59 (ate gel)
7 - 8:51
8 - 8:32
9 - 7:45 (but adding 45 seconds..stopped for restroom break) so make it 8:30
10 - 8:50
11 - 8:55 (ate gel)
12 - 8:32

Total run - 1:43:25 or 1:44:10 with the added time
Avg mpm - 8:37 or 8:41
Heart rate - 173 max - 160 average

It was a really great run. Word to the wise though, driving somewhere after the run really tends to cramp everything up (OUCH)!! But it was really good, I bought some running gloves yesterday and they really helped out the hands...I highly recommend the Nike Gloves - bought them at Sports Authority for $15 - they worked great!

I'll just say that I really feel great during the long runs...seems like I've found my pace and it's just so comfortable out there. Of course, now it's time to go crash!!

Going to the Thrashers game tonight, so it should be a nice evening! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm sorry, Scott...but the first thing that comes to mind is....45 seconds for a restroom break...must be NICE to be a guy!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously though....congrats on the excellent run! And your longest run to date!! Un-freakin-believable!! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Another amazing run Scott. I'm just really impressed with the strides you've made in your running and training (and yes...horribly bad pun intended). :p

Am I super jealous of your speed and the ease in which you accomplish run after run? Well...ummmm :rolleyes1 . Ok...yes....I really am. But at the same time I'm incredibly happy for your success! AND...it's still important to remember that even though you've found a level of comfort and ease in running....I KNOW that it still takes a ton of energy, focus, determination and incredibly hard work to do what you are doing. A 12 mile run is still freakin' hard! No matter what LOL! I certainly don't want to belittle your accomplishments at all. You really should be SO proud of yourself...I know that we all are here on the boards. And if I can't run that marathon with ya...not that you'd want to run with old gimpy here ;)....know that I'm one of your biggest fans :cheer2: and will be cheering you on like crazy!!!

So when are ya' gonna' pick a marathon to qualify for Boston? You are going to try to qualify right? I mean...nobody just starts running and 8 months later can post times like yours. It's within your ability should you choose to do it.

Scott....YOU are most certainly a runner. And a d@mn good one at that. Congratulations on another stellar week of training!!! :cheer2:

Way to go, Scott! :thumbsup2 It sounds like the 12 miler went quite well for you! :goodvibes You are doing an awesome job! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

How did the Thrashers do last night? That's quite a name for a hockey team! ;) By the way.... what is their mascot? :teeth:

Have a great week! :sunny:

Mornin' Peoples :)

Yesterday was a rest day so I decided to raid the house of all of it's food, sit on my butt while watching football, hockey, baseball and AR, and mix in a few naps in between. Ahhh...the joys of a do nothing Sunday :)

So the Thrashers won the game Saturday night and it was a good one. Can't believe the boys are off to the best start in franchise history (all 7 years of it) and that we have a great shot at the playoffs this year. It's nice to have a winning team to root for.

Sooooo glad to see Peter and Sarah gone from Amazing Race!! He was such a JERK! Happy to see that they decided to go separate ways afterwards, cause that 'ship sure wasn't gonna work out.

Oh and Amy...um...Boston? Yeah right! LOL I'd have to run 26.2 miles in 3:15...that's a 7:26 mpm pace!! I think I'll leave it to the Kenyans....speaking of which...did anyone see the winner of the Chicago Marathon slip and fall at the finish line? I totally blame the race officials for that slip up (no pun intended...well...ok it was), what a potentially dangerous situation that caused.

76 days to go now until I line up at the start. It was cool to look at Saturdays run and realize that on the marathon course, I would have ran through Epcot, up past the speedway, around and thru the Magic Kingdom and down past the Grand Floridian (on the way to AK)....really neat to think about, especially since the only sights I saw were trees, deer and a riverbank :) I'm eagerly anticipating the race packet from Disney this week which should have the card to get my official number in it. It will really make everything more realistic and up the excitement bar a few notches. But of course, there is still training to do...so here is what this week looks like:

Monday - 60 minute run (60!! geesh..as if last week wasn't tough enough)
Tuesday - 40 minute XT (either elliptical, lifecycle, or a combo)
Wednesday - 40 minute run
Thursday - off (YESS!!)
Friday - 40 minute XT
Saturday - 6 mile run (short, short, short :) )
Sunday - off

Now, I do have to factor in that I will be out of town Fri-Sun. I may possibly crosstrain on Thursday night in order to have Friday off...but I should still be able to complete the long run on Saturday. Luckily this should be my last trip until well after Disney.

I hope everyone has a great week and a good Monday!

Hi Scott,

Great run this weekend!!!! I am with Kim...45 seconds to pee...must be nice!!! HAHAHAHA :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You are going to do great with the marathon!!! Keep up the great work!

You're plan this week is great!!!!

Have a wonderful day :)

Quick FYI for those that care...

Day 4 has now been posted of the Trip Report...I plan to have the whole thing done in a few days :)

Hey there Scott.

I couldn't agree more about Peter & Sarah. Thank goodness they're gone!!

Sounds like a great week of training coming up. Nothing like going from a 12 mile run to a 6 mile run! That's gotta feel gooooood! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the next installment of the trip report. I was beginning to think I'll be finishing mine up before yours! :rotfl: :stir:

Oh, and gotta say COOL that you used part of your first name and last name in your screen name too! ;)

Definitely agree about Peter and Sarah. What was up with HER doing all of the tough challenges?! She is way better off without him.

Your training is awesome! Have another great week! :sunny:

:thumbsup2 Good job.....sounds like you've made post-long-run eating a sport in itself :rotfl: But good for you...need to take it easy after those long runs. I know I was pretty wiped out again this weekend.

 Bye-Bye Peter. Sooooo sad to see you go....ya' jerk :p . OK...so Sarah was a tough girl and really didn't deserve HIM as a team-mate :furious: . But at least she figured out what he's REALLY like before wasting any more time with him :teeth: . So AR wasn't a complete loss for her!!! And I have to see I find the Cho/Kentucky/Alabama alliance really sweet. I know these teams are smart enough to understand they aren't the strongest.....but I love their commitment to each other and so far it's paid off. I was worried the Cho Bros would end up getting eliminated this week....but it was all good. I still don't have a clear-cut favorite team yet. But it is interesting to watch popcorn:: . There's that whole "cheer for the underdog" side of me that really hopes to see Kentucky make it through week after week.

Hope your 60 minute run went well :goodvibes . Wish I could have been out there suffering yesterday too :guilty: . I feel like such a training slacker. But I'm sure you did an awesome job as always!

Have a great day!!! :sunny:

Good Afternoon!

So yesterday brought some cold weather my way...the temps around 6pm when I ran were in the low 40s and the wind was anywhere between 10-15mph. It's a darn good thing I purchased those gloves last week! I needed them again for last nights run....along with a long sleeve t-shirt. Who knew it would be this chilly so early in the season? I'm feeling for all of you people in the colder areas...I'm not sure I'd want it too much cooler.

Anyway, I got out there and completed another really satisfying run. I completed the first mile in 8:45 and just tried to maintain pace for the duration of the 60 minutes. I ended up going 6.59 miles in 61:03, for a 9:16mpm pace....right on par with where I should have been. I have really found a groove that I'm comfortable with, heck I even skipped a couple of walk breaks because I wasn't really tired or winded. Something inside of me says I'm ready to tackle a 10k for time, but I know that wouldn't be advisable while training so it may have to wait until the spring. I do have the 10k that I"m gonna run on Thanksgiving morning, but I don't think I need to push that one since it's so close to the actual marathon. Speaking of the marathon...

I GOT MY PACKAGE YESTERDAY!!!

Ok, so I don't remember my exact number (8751 maybe?) but it was pretty cool to finally get it in the mail. Makes it official...you know...this is really going to happen :) The program was cool but I have to say that the packaging was lackluster..it almost looked like a junk mail catalogue, big white cardboard thing on top and only shrink wrapped (I was expecting a manilla envelope from Disney). But I was really stoked when I realized what it was. It's finally within sight...my own personal journey is coming to it's conclusion...my dream of pulling this off is so close to being a reality...and although I love the support I've received from all of you, I did this on my own, am doing it on my own and will finish it on my own...a personal achievement...easily the greatest accomplishment of my life. (sorry to get all deep there for a second...it's kind of easy for me to be over dramatic..but hey, it's just me being me)

So it was a good day...got the packet, completed a tough run and the Thrashers were victorious yet again!!

Today calls for 40 minutes of crosstraining and I'll get that in after I attend basketball assessments and draft my team for the upcoming season. I'm coaching again for my daughter's girls basketball team...something that I really enjoyed doing last year. Thankfully, the numbness from this morning's trip to the dentist has subsided and I can now function fully again (after I clean up all of the slobber stains from my desk LOL)...

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey Scott!

Congrats on getting "the package" you have been waiting for. You are now "official"! :cheer2:

I read your fourth installment in your trip report... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Two thumbs up!

Hope you have a great week! :sunny:

Good morning!

Went to the fitness center and did the elliptical last night for 40 minutes while watching the Penguins/Devils game. Something about watching tv makes that time go quicker for me.

Other than that, no news to report from the training side of things...so a short entry for today. I'll do my planned 40 minute run through the 'hood tonight when I get home from work...here's hoping it's a little warmer than last time, right now it's scheduled to be a mild 50 degrees which should be perfect :)

I hope everyone has a great day!

Have a GREAT run, Scott!! :moped:

Make sure you're done and ready to watch LOST tonight!!! :cool1:

Day 5 of the trip report has been posted :) I'm on a roll!! Will try to finish it tomorrow.

Good morning!

I did my run yesterday...I ran for 4.7 miles in 43:38, an average pace of 9:17mpm. It didn't feel super easy, but wasn't difficult either...I was glad to have maintained the same pace as my previous few 'hood runs. Today my legs are a little tired so I'm glad there is no running scheduled for tonight, but I do think I'm gonna hit the fitness center and get in a workout on the elliptical so that I don't have to worry about it tomorrow (I am traveling). I'm gonna try to still get in my long run on Saturday (it's only 6 miles this wee) but worst case scenario will have me doing it Sunday night when I return home...either way, I'm not gonna miss it :)

So Lost was great as usual last night..providing so many clues as to what's really going on, but still mixing it up enough so that I was still a little confused :) LOVED the scene with Sawyer's HR monitor going off when he was looking at Kate...was soo funny!

Baseball..rained out...Thrashers...lost in OT....and the Office tonight is a REPEAT!?! Survivor is a recap episode?? What's going on with TV?? LOL Even further reason to just go workout :)

Have a great day today!

LOST was good, wasn't it? It's so sad that there's only 2 weeks left until the hiatus. :guilty: I loved the part with the heart monitor too! And I liked when Jack found out why he was really kidnapped. Those were Ben's x-ray's right? SO AWESOME!!

BOO that The Office and Survivor are nothing new. But good for my Thursday night. WAY too much tv on that night. :rotfl:

Kick that eliptical's butt tonight...and have a good trip!!

Yes, those were Ben's X-rays!!! Is Jack gonna save him? Could a deal be in the works?

Anyway...Day 6 of our trip report is now posted!! Almost done!!
