Can I take a very small pair of scissors on the plane? I want to do some needle work and will need the scissors to cut the thread- also happen to need them to cut the plastic tie 'locks' off the suitcase when I get to the resort. Thanks for any advice!

I believe you are only allowed round edge scissors (like for kids).

The searched me and my wife beacuse she had those scrapbook scissors coming back from Orlando. In the end they were o.k but we were delayed

I do crosstitch and find that good nail clippers work well for cutting thread and i believe they now allow them if they don't have the file. I have also found it great to be able to hang them from my neck as they are less likely to fall off the tray and get lost.
I'd still wonder if they'll let you have the needles in your carry-on. If you go to the singles/solo sight on this board they have a baggage screener person over there that you could ask this question to.

thanks for the suddestion about the singles site- I'll ask there!

They took my small pointy scissors when I flew in July. They did say you can take rounded tip ones.

Not out of O'Hare. I was stopped last week and sent back to check my bag with a cute little pair of children's round tipped green scissors in my bag.

I have taken my round ended nail scissors many times for needlework. I find it easiest to put them through security separately so they don't have to search my backpack for them.

My IDIOT hubby, but my daughter's school scissors in my carry-on. He wasn't thinking and stuck them in last minute. My bag was searched, and we were allowed to take them.

I just had to comment. I was LOL, when I saw the post. This just happened last week.
