Scientific Name for the Ribs?

I'm putting together a vole skeleton for Biology, and I have to give the scientific name for the bones, but the ribs aren't on my sheet and google just confuses me! Anyone know?

As far as I know, ribs are just ribs, no other 'scientific' name.

According to my Anatomy & Physiology book from college, the ribs are just called ribs...no other scientific name.

The ribs are just the ribs i think.the whole chest is the throax.and in between the ribs you have the intercostal muscules.

They are all ribs, but there are two types: the true ribs are the ones that connect up to your sternum -- your breast bone. They don't connect directly but connect via cartilege from bone to bone (thus allowing some give when you breathe and such). The lowest ribs on your ribs cage do not connect to the sternum and are false ribs. The link above is a great resource!

"Ribs" is a perfectly good scientific name, but if you want the Latin, it's "costae" (singular, "costa"). (Ref: Gray's Anatomy )

I don't know if there is a scientific name, but for the last several years whenever I hear the words "ribs", I start hearing "I want my baby back baby back baby back , I want my baby back baby back baby back" over and over in my head.

That commercial was WAY too effective
