hoping for a reservation at sci-fi to open up for our date in October. If not... what counter service options are peoples favs? I have never really enjoyed the dining options at Hollywood studios, but maybe I have just not gone to the right place? I have a reservation with a fantastic dining package, but I think we'd rather see the star wars fireworks. Thanks!

Slim pickings at Hollywood studios for quick service. Imo abc is the best. Use to be backlot but they went downhill. My pick will be abc than the pizza place. Hopefully Disney knows about this problem and we should see some good ones once toy story land opens and Star Wars land but now we don't have much to pick from.

They just opened the new Baseline Tap House, have not seen their menu but that might be a new fun option.

Edit: food very limited, oops. But I could have a pretzel and the cheese platter thing and be happy.....

Sci Fi is great. Get a free basic access account at Touring Plans to use their Reservation Finder tool to get a reservation.

Sci Fi is fantastic and a must-do if you're a first timer. Heck, it's a must-do for my husband and I anytime we go! If you're planning on dining there, be sure to set up reservations as early as possible as they fill up quickly. On the flip side as far as quick service, ABC will be your best (though there is nothing spectacular about it at all).

I agree with the lack of choices since Starring Rolls closed, December will be my first trip in years without indulging in a red velvet cheesecake cupcake!

I think Rosie's is pretty good.

Try to get Sci-Fi. If you don't like HBD Sci-Fi is the only other place I recommend.:)

We did Sci-Fi and Mama Melrose a week ago. Very disappointed with Sci-Fi. The menu just seemed lackluster, but it does fit the setting. We enjoyed Mama Melrose. It wasn't the best italian every, but I'd choose it over Sci-Fi on future trips.

Touring Plans reservation finder worked for me for our trip in a few weeks!:thumbsup2

As others have said the CS at MGM is laughably bad. I'd definitely keep looking for a reservation. We've scored a last minute to SciFi man times, though your chances definitely get better the closer you get to the trip. If you can't get in, I'd suggest doing 50's Prime Time in its place. The food is equally good and while not the cool drive-in atmosphere, the retro vibe is fun too.

Thanks everyone! I usually get a sci-if adr.... I don't know why I didn't this time. We may just keep our other. I'll try the touring plans finder. I didn't know they have that!!! Thanks

I loved the sci-fi dine in theater! DH and I both loved our burgers and we shared a chocolate shake. The waitress was awesome and split our shake into 2 glasses so we really got more than one shake because we each had more than half our glass full. The only thing I wish to be different is that they would show more than trailers on the screen. It would be fun to watch old movies or shows.

This is a good question. I haven't eaten at all of counter service restaurants in Hollywood Studios. I like the sound of the tap house one that someone mentioned. Has anyone seen a menu?

No one mentioned the commissary, I think? We ate there one time and were pleasantly surprised at the food. It was good for QS and not awful like other reviews I've heard about it. But you are right, Sci-fi is great. We always eat there and love the cheesy movies and drive in food. It used to get absolutely awful reviews, and now it seems no one can get reservations for it????? Who knew?

SciFi is awesome! its the quietest restaurant around! And its so fun. Love the theme. We've always enjoyed the onion rings, burgers/fries, spinach dip, and even the wings! And their shakes, omg so good. My fave is the oreo. Keep trying! Dont give up.

50's is also good. Aside from that, i dont eat there. CS options suck.
