My kids really want to try this for our trip next year. Would you recommend lunch or dinner? and why?

We are going to Sci Fi too. When I did a search on this forum it seems that lunch or sticking to the basics is the best option. The unofficial guide suggests going and just getting a dessert. The atmosphere is great, but the food is just okay and I guess expensive. We are going for lunch when we go in May. Good luck!

We go to Sci-Fi for dessert only now. JMO, but the food is only so-so. It's a nice break from touring the Studios and the atmosphere is fun. If we did go for a meal, it'd probably be a lite lunch.

Because it's a novelty we have tried Sci Fi about 4 or 5 times. Every single time we had to wait nearly an hour for our food to be served and when it came it was mediocre and cold.

If you really want to go, go for dessert and be prepared to WAIT!

We went for lunch and had burgers and shakes, and it was very good....

I had the chili for lunch and it was great. My sons had the burgers but they are very large and they couldn't finish them

We just returned from the world and ate at Sci-Fi Monday (10/31) for lunch. Almost like CRT lunch we knew that we were booking it for the atmosphere. Food was good (not great/not horrible), service was polite and well paced, and my kids (dd7,ds8) loved the atmosphere. We discussed that we now need to find a drive-in movie theatre to take them to so they can better understand what it was about.

My son really wants to go to SciFi in Jan, but we are taking my very spry almost 80 yr old Mom (celebrating her life at WDW!) on this trip. I do think she'd get a big kick out of this, but how hard is it to get in a car? I was there years ago, and can't remember. I think she'd be ok, since she is pretty mobile. I know they have tables, but that would defeat the purpose of my son's visit. TIA!

We've gone several times for lunch and stuck with burger/sandwiches, and we've not had a bad experience. The burgers are actually among the best at WDW (on a good day anyway). It's an open secret that you can get a burger for dinner even though they are not on the menu.

Hi there!

I have only been to Sci Fi once and we loved it! We went for dinner but I think looking back, I would go back for lunch just because there usually isn't much of a difference other than price. For dinner, I got soup and it had cheesy popcorn on top, yes... you heard me, and it was yummy. And then DF and I split a plate of ribs and onion rings. We loved it and it was so filling that we couldn't get dessert even though I wanted to.

I think getting in and out of the car should be fine! Such a fun atmosphere for any age... :goodvibes

Pooh-sized individuals may find the cars a bit "cozy" (some might say cramped), but they are fairly easy to get into and out of. If your mom can get in and out of an average car, she should have no trouble at Sci-Fi.

sci fi dine in is great for ambiance, my fiance & i enjoy having lunch there. we prefer to hop over to epcot for dinner, there are too many good restaurants there.

We always make an ADR for Sci-Fi every time we visit Disney, but always for lunch. We have had quite a few of the lunch options and all were OK...last week I had the turkey sandwich which was served with a cucumber/melon salad and it was delicious.

Our server was very polite and our food arrived in an acceptable amount of time..didn't wait for a long time at all...and I am an extremely impatient person.

As far as price goes, I don't think it is that much more than counter service. My DH had a burger that came with fries (and you do get a lot of food-more than any one of us can eat alone) for about $11.00.......

I would recommend that you try it at least once and form your own opinion.

lunch. We ate there last month and has a great meal and time. I know it gets a bad rap but we really enjoyed it!

Have fun!

K

Lunch, not dinner. Ambiance is cool. My Mom and MIL split a sandwich and a dessert for lunch and it was plenty. DH and and I split burger and fries. He and DS really enjoyed the thick shake.

I too would recommend Sci-fi for lunch. Be sure to try to the vanilla milkshakes-very good!

I LOVE it! I think its a must!

Eating in what appears just like a Drive-Inn movie is awesome! The cars are fun to sit in too! I just loved the place and can't wait to go again!

We just took my 70 year old mom and my 80 year old dad and they loved it! My mom has health issues and had no problem getting in and out, its not much different from a standard booth. They both loved it, it was about their favorite meal. My mom was a teen in the 50's and loved drive in movies so she was in hog heaven. We always go at lunch, get served very fast and have never had anything but a great meal there. We love the burgers and shakes!
