Is the Sci-Fi Dine-In a good place to go with a party of 11? That's 6 adults, and kids ages 6, 5, 4, 3, and 1. My 5 year old saw it our Orlando Attraction's magazine and wants to go there. (But then again, he'd say that about almost anywhere.) It would seem like the big appeal is sitting in the cars, but it looks like you don't even face each other then, right? Is there any appeal to it if we sit at the regular tables? Or should we just skip it?

I went with a party of 12. Kids were age 7-18. They LOVED it because of the cars. It is not a "chat at dinner" experience. It is more of a novelty experience as you don't face each other. I mostly chatted with DH, but still could enjoy that the kids were happy. We had side-by-side cars. Having smaller kids might make it interesting to seat everyone. You could call dining and ask about that. I don't think I'd bother with the tables. They lack excitement and your older kids will really want a car.

Yes, the big appeal is sitting in the cars, facing the movie screen. But that means that you don't talk to each other much, except for your seatmate.

I don't know how long you plan to be there, but on a long vacation, everyone needs a break from each other, and 45 minutes for lunch isn't that long, and you can talk about it later.

Food is okay. I've never sat at the tables, so I don't know what that's like.

I guess we're the oddballs here.....we thought the food was really good. Loved the hot fudge sundae. The only downside is it's pretty dark and the place where you have your plate is fairly small.

this sounds silly but when my ds was 5 he got spooked at sci-fi. I think it was a combo of the dark and the movie clips. When we got out of there he asked if the swamp monster would let the woman go? ! :lmao:

Now he is 14 and we plan to return to the restaurant for the first time since then.

That's so true about the swamp monster type movie clips! :lmao: I would think that with the ages of kids in your group every meal will be an adventure, too, so if you think it sounds okay, go for it. But sitting in the cars is cool and a must, and yes, a bit of a break from each other, too.
Food is burgers and typical diner food, just so you expect that. ;)

We were there last week. The atmosphere was neat (the car and movie), but we didn't like the food much at all.

We've eaten at Sci Fi at least a dozen times because everytime we take someone new, they always want to eat here. The food is some of the worst at WDW but those cars are so cute.

We went with a large party recently and unfortunately, we were not able to be seated together. We had 5 in one car and 6 in the other. The time before we had cars side by side but this time we did not. We didn't really care, we'd seen enough of each other, but if you want to be seated close together, it might not happen here.
