Still getting our bearings where MGM is concerned. The three kids:
DS - 11:cool2:
DS - 8:wizard:
DD - 6:cutie:

Because we know we want a CS for one of our meals here, we are narrowed down to Sci Fi or the character meal at H&V. I know the characters are a bit on the young side for my boys but they still find all of that exciting.

That said, the setting for Sci-Fi looks more interesting. I'm wondering, however, if whatever is shown at the restaurant on the movie screen would be a bit scary for my daughter? She's not too timid, though she's frightened by many of the traditional Disney villians.

If we can pick only one this time around, which one would you choose?:confused3

The movies shown on the screen at Sci-Fi are actually just clips from old (50's and 60's) B horror movies. They're the old clips you used to see from coming attractions. It's been a couple of years since we ate there, but at that time, 2 of the clips I remember seeing were The 50 Foot Man and The 50Foot Woman. They also showed the Intermission clips with the little popcorn box guy, encouraging people to get a snack at the snack bar. My husband and I found the shows to be cute because we actually remembered seeing those old movies on television. My kids just found them to be funny. I don't think your daughter would find them scary. My DD-13 just reminded me that there is "a big ol' spider". Not very realistic looking though.

P.S. We ate at Hollywood and Vine last week and didn't see a single character. The food was not great either. Although Sci-Fi isn't our favorite for food, it's a really cute experience.

My daughter was seven the first time we did Sci Fi and she loved it (still does). And she has always been timid about what she will watch. Its about my kids favorite meal at WDW. The clips are mainly just corny, not at all like current Sci Fi movies with all their violence and gore. In all of our meals there, I have never seen or heard a frightened child. In fact the place is so quiet and relaxing, since everybody is riveted to the screen. Hollywood and Vine on the other hand with its chrome and metal furnishings is incredibly noisy. And with only Playhouse Disney characters I think its likely your kids will feel like the oldest ones there. There are so many great character meal options, better for older kids. I woudl give Sci Fi a try, I think all three of your kids would love it.

Thank you....switched the ADRs this morning - Play & Dine at H&V is out - SciFi is in!:thumbsup2

Excellent choice as I was about to ring in saying go for Sci-Fi!!! We love this place. The last time we were there our boys were 2½ & 4 and they thought it was pretty cool to sit in cars. This year they will be 6 & 7 and we have a daughter now that will be almost 3. They are really looking forward to going back and sitting in cars again to eat. The only problem I am having is that they want to sit in specific colored cars (of course not the same color) and I have tried to explain that we just don't get a choice. :goodvibes

I think you made the right choice. Although I'm sure your boys would have been 'okay' at H&V I'm just as sure they'll like Sci-Fi better. My DD4 put Sci-Fi at the top of her list for September along with 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's. ;)
