I've got all my PS's made for my June trip (thank goodness). Looking back over things I might change our late lunch at Prime Time for Sci-Fi. We will be a party of 7 with 3 little girls (4, 2.5, 9mos). Which restaurant would be the best for us? We've never been to either and will be spending the afternoon at MGM.
Thanks for the help!!!

This is all matter of opinion, of course, but I like Prime Time far better than Sci-Fi. You get great interaction with the waitstaff at Prime Time I'm sure your kids would love, and to me, the food is so much better.
I'm not sure Sci-Fi can even seat that many people at one booth (car), maybe so, but I went with a big party and we were split up.

It is a matter of preference. We will be doing Sci Fi because the kids like it and while I have heard negative posts on the food we are only going for lunch -- burgers and such. If I was going for more of a dinner type meal I would probably pick Prime Time.

I'm no help to you. I had lunch at the Sci Fi in December and loved it. I had dinner at the Prime Time and loved it. I'm going back to both for some "comfort" food!

We absolutely love Sci-Fi over Prime Time. But I gotta tell ya with those 3 very little ones, I think I'd almost go with Prime Time. The cars have table-like shelves (like dashboards, get it?) that may cause some difficulty managing all the food and the little ones. Not a biggie and they probably have high-chairs to pull up to the side of the car. You may want to inquire about that. It may be easier to handle at Prime time.

Really enjoy Prime-Time...its a must stop for our crew everytime we are at MGM, have never eaten at sci-fi..however that looks like it might be fun too. It is definatley worth seeing Prime-time...even if you just stop in and order a dessert.

Prime time anytime the Servers are great and the food is sooooooo much better!! plus the Sci fi was soooo cold!!

We love Sci Fi, and we have lunch there every trip to WDW. We don't have any interest in eating at Prime Time, it just doesn't appeal to our family. Having said that, I think Prime Time would be a better choice for your situation.

Given the ages of the children and the size of your party, I'm not sure you'd enjoy Sci Fi. The cars are so fun, but they aren't set up for larger parties and will make conversation and caring for young children difficult. There are some tables at the back where you could sit instead, but it seems that that would take away from the atmosphere, which is the whole reason to eat at Sci Fi, IMO.

Because it is set up like a drive-in theatre, Sci Fi is also pretty dark, which might not work well with very young children.

I believe there are "larger cars" at SciFi. I would go anywhere other than 50's PTC!

Be prepared for the high prices -
A burger will cost you $11.99 !!!
OUCH:earseek:
The atmosphere is great but the food isn't.
We enjoyed Prime Time so much more & for a couple dollars more you can get a fried chicken meal thats really good.

Our family went to Sci-Fi Dine-in 4 years ago. This year I suggested we try Prime Time after watching a description of it (I can't remember if it was the DisneyWorld DVD or a travel Channel special). I was "overruled" by the kids who wanted to return to SciFi. Disney World decisions are about the only times my kids votes get more weight than mine.

This has been the table discussion at our home lately! We have eaten at both, and couldn't decide which to return to... we decided on PrimeTime. We all like the food better than burgers, have had great exps in the past, like to be able to sit together, and be able to converse. In the SciFi, you cant have a conversation as easily, and are seated in cars... its not a place to go for a social occasion, you know? But its fun, dont get me wrong.

With your party, I would do PrimeTime. Its a better set-up for dealing wtih children and such as well...

Just returned from Disney trip (April 5-10) and had PS reservations for a lunch at the Sci-Fi. We had a party of 12 and were seated in two cars (they jokingly called them stretch limos) ;). We had 5 children in our party 7 years and under and they absolutely loved it. The food was also very good. We had a variety of selections between us and everyone enjoyed the entire meal. (Shakes are awesome) Prices may be a little high for lunch but hey, its Disney. Enjoy.

By the way, people were coming in the restaurant when we were waiting to be seated, asking for seating and they were totally booked for the next few days, so PS would be a good idea.

Sci fi and small kids do not mix well. DS was 1 when we went and DH and I could not talk or anything because he was in the front with DD and I was in the back with DS in a high chair. Not fun and I was not all that enthralled with the food!

I wasn't a fan of SciFi - too loud and I expected more of a cohesive show rather than very short "shorts" and commercials. Shakes were good - food ok - we had burgers for lunch - it was pricey. I wouldn't go back but I bet the kids would and then of course I would

We love the Sci-Fi and go on every trip! If you put the 2 year old in a high chair then you will be able to fit in one car. (we did this) I just put the high chair next to me. My kids were 14 months 3,4 & 12 the first time we went and they all loved it! I have never had a bad meal there either. It's such a cool place! Love their Onion Rings! No matter what you decide have a great time!

I loved our late lunch/early dinner at Prime Time. For a week that was all my DH could talk about when we got home!

DH and I both love 50sPTC...it's a must every trip. He's always wanted to eat at SCI FI, so we're making that a first for next month's trip.

I'm going to have to vote for Prime Time. I've eaten at 50's PT many times (because we love it - the food is good, service is great (and funny)) and Sci-Fi twice .

One of my dining exp. at Sci Fi was 2 weeks ago ---- I went with my 4 yo son, because he is currently enthralled with robots (anything, and everything having to do with robots) - and alot of the movie trailers (from the 1950s) that they show on the "drive-in" movie screen are about robots.

The last time I had gone there was 10 years ago (Honeymoon) - and the food hasn't changed - it's still mediocre. Also- the seating is "fun" and "novel" - but don't expect to have a conversation with any of your party except for the one person you are seated next to (everyone is facing the "movie screen", not each other").

The only other thing you might want to be aware of - with 3 young girls - the movie trailers (That''s all that they play - a coninuous reel of movie trailers for bad "B" Sci-Fi movies)(Okay - there is one shot of Walt with an animatronic robot - but it's only about 15 seconds long) are completely over the top, unbelievable - but they do have large attacking spiders, large attacking people ("Attack of the 50 foot woman"), and even a large attacking iguana for Pete's sake (not to mention those really bad 1950's robots - lots and lots of robots). Just though I'd mention it in case any of your girls is arachnaphobic!

Are all of the seats at Sci Fi in a car or do you have to specially request to be seated in a car?
