Which one would you choose, Sci Fi for Lunch or 50s for dinner? I have ressies for both and need to get rid of one.

Doesn't one have a refillable milkshake? Is the shake included in the dining plan? Seems like on the 50's menu the shake was listed with the appetizers on all ears???

I don't know about refillable milkshakes but you can order one as your drink at either place. I think WCC is the only one w/ refillable milkshakes. I could be wrong though. I don't order them but I know they always offer it when were placing our order.
As for which one to choose. It depends on what your looking for? DO you have kids? If you have kids then Sci-Fi. If you don't then either one would still be good. I would say 50's for food and fun. But Sci-Fi is great too. We visit both during every trip but if I could only go to one I'd go to 50's.

My 17 year old daughter and her friend will be with us as well, and I know my daughter mentioned both last time, we did the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose (it was just, ok) it is a surprise trip so I am not sure which one she would rather go to and can't ask :rotfl:

I would be careful about ordering a shake for a drink, you still get dessert. You can also order a shake as a dessert at both places. We find it easiest for 2 people to split a shake and a dessert.

As for which to choose, overall we like 50's better and try to get there each trip. We like to food better and the atmosphere is nice and if you get a CM that is into it, it makes it all the better. The food at Sci-Fi is nothing great but the atmosphere is worth checking out once. This is one of those cases where if you haven't been to either, you really can't go wrong.

I would look over the menus for both and see what you think she'd like better. Sci-Fi is fun to see the inside and sit in the cars. The food is good. But I like the food better at 50's and we LOVE the interaction w/ the CM's there. If they're not shy and like to get picked on and have fun then I would go there. We always go there and the memories from the 50's are the ones we always talk about. Not that we don't eat at Sci-Fi too we do. Just if I had to pick one it would be 50's.

Do you enjoy being picked on? I only ask, because we love 50's, but I have heard many people not find the waitstaff amusing. They will do things like tell you no texting at the table, no elbows on the table and you need to eat your vegetables to get dessert. Some of them go a little over the top, but I love it. It is all in fun in my opinion. My DH even had to wear a dunce hat once for not listening to the no elbows on the table request. :lmao:

I don't think the food at either place is knock your socks off, but I love the atmosphere at both. We have had slow service at SciFi. Some small kids are afraid of the movies there. Milkshakes at both locations are really good, but not sure of the refillable part. We could never drink more than one milkshake anyway.

I much prefer the food at 50s, and I like the milkshakes better too (PB&J one is sooo good!). The only thing that would draw me to Sci Fi would be eating in the cars.. other than that, it's 50s all the way.

I think the teenagers would probably enjoy Sci-Fi more (atmosphere). Burgers and shakes usually please teens also. They might not understand 50's that much. To us, alot of the fun there is remembering seeing all of it in our youth. The fried chicken is good there.

I am thinking SciFi may be the best choice for us. Meatloaf and Fried chicken is common place here since I cook a lot and a Southern cook, LOL and I don't like being the center of attention. None of the menus at DHS are very appealing to me???? Seems like they could do better?

We prefer the food at 50's and in all our visits there, we have never been picked on.

We go to Sci Fi more often (and lunch is better than dinner) because we just love the atmosphere. The food is not the best but it's so fun there.

1 other thing to think about is the seating at SCI FI, do you like to sit in a tight space and try to talk with someone right behind you? At Sci Fi you only sit side by side, 2 in front 2 in back.

I prefer 50's PT, I had the fried chicken, hubby had the pot roast and it was awesome! Sci-Fi, hated the food but the atmosphere is really cool. I love the vanilla coke too, I believe they both have that.

50s is a very social event, with a lot of interaction with the wait staff and a great setting for a lot of conversation during the meal.

Sci Fi is dark, you are watching movie excerpts, and you are sitting in a mockup car so the front row has to turn around to talk with someone behind them, and the back row needs to lean up to be heard in someone's ear. It is an eating experience, a good re-creation of eating in a convertible at a drive-in movie.

We like them both! Whatever floats your boat.

this is a fact but not like a home .

For me, it's 50s anytime. Sci-fi is "fun", but 50's is fun AND the food is good. ( imho )

I've been to 50s PTC twice and wasn't impressed with the atmosphere either time. I guess the food was good, but I didn't feel that it was all it was cracked up to be.

Last time we were there, we also went to Sci-Fi. We didn't order anything extravagant - burgers, I think - but I remember it being good and that we enjoyed that atmosphere a lot. Wayyyyyy more than we enjoyed 50s PTC.

I would go with 50's PT. We did lunch at Sci Fi on one of our trips. It was OK, but really it was just a CS meal at TS prices. Way overpriced for burgers and sandwiches.

I would choose Prime time cafe. The fried chicken is really amazing and the pot roast is incredible. I never thought I would ever order pot roast anywhere but I am hooked on it. It is great. The cast member interaction is fun and the desserts you choose from their menu which is stored on a viewmaster. Lots of fun.
