Looking to make reservations for lunch at one of these places. Which one do you suggest? Traveling with a party of 6. My husband, 3 kids (11, 8 & 4) and my dad.

Thanks!

Eva

Like them both, food is better at PT 50s though.

Considering the ages of your kids I suggest sci fi! Nothing beats eating lunch in a booth shaped like a car! The food is diner like: ribs, burgers, chicken. It's a fun place!

Sci Fi is a better atmosphere for kids, but the food at 50's is way better IMO

Sci Fi!!! My kids love it and the adults love the quiet! The food is great and it is a neat experience!

I also prefer the food at 50's PTC, but I'd vote Sci-Fi: it is a unique setting that you just cannot get outside of Disney World. You feel like you are part of a show - the theming is great. (50's theming is great too, but you can just walk in the Tune In Lounge there and take a peak to see it.

Note that a party of 6 will be split between 2 'cars.' IIRC, you sit 2 in a row, 2 rows per 'car,' so it isn't as if you can really talk to more than 1 person easily anyway (you are all facing the same direction: the film screen). The cars are close together so you won't have a problem communicating across cars.

Enjoy!

The atmosphere and food at Sci Fi is incredibly overrated. The cars are fun for about 20 seconds. They only show a small selection of short trailers on the the screen, instead of actual movie clips, so they are repeated 50 times while you are there. The food isn't worth a stop. 50s is much better, not great, but better.

We are a party of 6 and we have always sat together in the same car, 2 to a seat.
They have cars that seat 4 and cars that seat 6. They also have a couple of cars that have a regular table within the body of the car that will seat more than 6 and the picnic tables in the back next to the concession stand.

Sci-Fi is a must for us every trip, even if we just go for sundaes/desert. It is the one place that my kids/grandkids always ask to go back to. I agree with some of the other posters, it is an experience that you can get nowhere outside of Disney. It is a fun atmosphere and the burgers and onion rings are delicious.

Whichever you choose, enjoy!

I would go with sci-fi. My family was uncomfortable at 50s. We're normally very friendly people, but it my kids didn't want to call the waitress 'aunt' or 'cousin' (whatever it was). We also were immediate cousins to everyone else in the room. I don't know- maybe we were just tired or grumpy that day, but we never went back.

Sci-Fi had the very worst burger I've ever had at Disney. Just dried out and gross, tasted like cardboard. The atmosphere is fun, but that's it. We've been there twice in the past couple of years, I think we're done.

50's PT, way over rated. Like the Sci-Fi, fun setting but the food was just gross. I had heartburn for hours after the sampler plate thing, DH was hunting for the Tums and Alka-Seltzer six hours later. He thought the fried chicken was pretty good, though. Done with that restaurant as well.

The last time I ate at Sci Fi the food was horrible and their menus are pretty simple-Burgers. I guess it depends on what you are going for. If your going for food quality I'd do 50's PT.

The experience at 50 's IT is very dependent on the quality of your waiter or waitress. The last 3 times we went, we got a grumpy waitress who was not in character at all. Other tables around us were having a great time, and we felt very cheated. We would only go to Sci Fi now.:happytv:
