I’ve never been to either, currently have dinner reservation at Sci Fi but dinner reservations are available at 50’s Prime time too. We are two adults, not on dining plan or free dining.

I like 50's better. I am not fond of eating in dark areas. I like to see my food well. We ate at Sci Fi once and I didn't enjoy it as much as 50's. My kids really liked Sci Fi and the whole drive in experience.

I've eaten at both, I enjoy them equally, and they are both unique, fun experiences. It is always a tough choice for me. I suggest looking at the menus and see which appeals to you more. My daughter and I chose 50's for our August trip based on menu items. I do like eating lunch at Sci-Fi though because I find it relaxing. It is nice to take a break in a dark, air conditioned room and the restaurant tends to be quieter because people are focused on the movie clips.

Sci Fi has a fun atmosphere and decent (but pricey) burgers. But, I love the fried chicken (and the pb&j milkshake) at 50’s and would choose it over Sci Fi!

I prefer Sci-Fi, my fiance prefers 50's. I love Sci-Fi because I'm obsessed with burgers and milkshakes and I love their milkshakes! I also think it makes for a much more romantic atmosphere, sitting in the dark watching old movies on a big screen. But 50's has a better variety of food options, and the servers are a hoot. I would do Sci-Fi if you're looking for a more date-night experience, and 50's if you're going for the food (unless you both are burger lovers like me).

I LOVE 50s, I like SciFi. The food is definitely better quality at 50s IMO. Not that SciFi is bad, it's good, but 50s is great. Their fried chicken is fantastic, as is the pot roast.

Well I like both so much we do Hollywood for 2 days and usually do both eat trip. Sci-Fi has incredible atmosphere but I refer to as a counter service impersonating a table service. But for burgers and onion rings it can't be beat. As for 50's if you go there you have to get the chicken. As a good southern boy I know fried chicken and I rate theirs as being better than Homecomings. Far less greasy. If I had to choose I would probably choose Sci Fi because my movie room has drive in speakers on the wall and 4 pictures of classic drive ins.

We prefer 50's for the food and the atmosphere. We are not big movie buffs though, so that is one reason we don't like Sci Fi as much. Another thing to consider is that since you are not on the dining plan, you may want to share a meal and it is quite easy to do so at 50's. The fried chicken is amazing, and one person would have a hard time eating an entire 1/2 chicken with all the fixings. Also the "sampling of mom's favorite recipes" is huge enough to share.

I really like Sci-Fi, it's unique and the food is not bad if you go in expecting bar type food. Once you have watched the movie once though it just repeats. I would recommend it with kids, but if it's you and your wife I would bet you will like 50's more. They are both great though so you can't go wrong. Part of the fun in not going to one of them is it gives you something to add to your agenda on your next trip. :)

Both are good- we prefer Sci Fi for the atmosphere. We love the burgers and watching the old sci-fi film clips in our car at the drive-in!

I'm with Ken, both are good, 2 different experiences but pretty much on par with each other. Sci-Fi (super cute and done so well) 50's (cute & really fun depending on server)

P.S. The Fried chicken at 50's is awesome but the pot roast is really good too!

I agree with many of the above posts.
The Sci-Fi has a great fun atmosphere that needs to be experienced, but we find the food to be just "okay" in my opinion.
In my opinion, 50's Prime Time has better food (Great fried chicken). We enjoy going to both.

Sci-FI is a must for us. We love the atmosphere and movie clips. They have an amazing burger, fries, onion rings, crab dip and shakes. Stick to simple items and it's very good.

I really liked 50's, but my DH did not like the antics. I LOVE the antics, so I had fun. I would go there again if I go with someone who likes the shtick.

Another vote for 50’s Prime Time , I love the food and enjoy playing along with all the cast members . Just remember to keep your elbows off the table and your cell phone in your pocket or prepare to be teased !!

I really like both, but it would depend on if Im looking for a heavy meal or something lighter. 50's PT tends to be very hearty and filling. Most options at Sci-Fi are on the lighter/sandwich-burger-salad side.

If Im planning on doing a lot of walking/standing after the meal I prefer Sci Fi. If Im just going from there to Fantasmic then off to bed, Id go with 50's.

We love both and I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are very unique and something you can only do at Disney.

For us, 50s Prime Time has better dinner foods with heartier entrees like meatloaf and fried chicken. Sci Fi has better lunch food with lighter fare like sandwiches and burgers. IMO, it comes down to the type of food you want at that time based on your other plans that day. You could always opt to eat at Sci Fi and then stop in the Tune-In Lounge at 50s for a drink after to see the atmosphere.

Also keep in mind that 50s Prime Time has some playful antics, which does not appeal to everyone. We're just two adults and typically reserved. Last time DH and I ate there, our server force-fed DH his collard greens with a fork when he didn't finish them. It was hilarious and all in good fun, but I know that would give some people anxiety. None of this at Sci Fi.

Sci-Fi is so cool and I've enjoyed the best burger I've had on property there. We've also eaten at Prime Time but it didn't impress us much. If you choose Sci-Fi I recommend staying with the simple stuff: Burgers, rings, shakes. Most of the negative comments about Sci-Fi come from folks who ordered something more elaborate and were disappointed. :earsboy:

on HS day...we always do Sci-Fi at lunch for burgers & shakes and dinner is always at 50's....just our tradition
