Sci fi food - is it good?

I know people repeatedly say that you should eat at sci fi for the atmosphere and the milkshakes. But what about the food. I still haven't tried to make a lunch reservation there because the menu doesn't look that great to me. What can you tell me about the food?

I ordered just a ruben sandwich and it was really soggy. The icecream was off I guess the day we went and it was just full of ice crystals.

Stick to the simple stuff, like burgers or sandwiches and malts and you'll be okay.

We're two adults who went to check out the "ambience". It is very cute to sit in the cars and of course we're old enought to remember drive-ins so we enjoyed it, but decided there were more interesting eating places to donate our money to the Mouse.

That being said...we have "rented" a 9 yr old for our March trip (he doesn't know yet and I'm about bursting to tell him!) and I've made reservations at Sci-Fi. I know he'll love it.

Suggestion? Try it and see how you like it. It's good to go at least once.
Hope this helps some.

I know my boys (9 and 11) will think it is really cool - I just wish the menu looked better.

We've been happy with it, and my kids LOVED the place! As stated previously, don't expect gourmet, but the burgers and shakes were good.

We ate there in September & really enjoyed it. The milkshakes & onion rings are excellent; :thumbsup2 the cheeseburgers & ribs were pretty good too.

You have to try it once. The hamburgers IMO were awful, the onion rings were good.

I have been to Sci-Fi about four times total. The food is very good. The basic fare is burgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, etc., but they also have some other specialities. My boyfriend enjoyed the BLT soup and I liked the Spinach & Artichoke Dip appetizer. I have also had their burgers and thought they were much better than CS ones. It is definitely worth having a meal there for the fun and good food.

The milkshakes are good. The onions rings are not bad but they no longer come with any dipping sauces. The burgers are only so-so. The other sandwiches have been terrible. Still, we've been there about 20 times :rotfl: because we just love the atmosphere.

Good basic fare. It's a must for us every trip. We don't get too adventurous with the menu - we stick to burgers and fries, onion rings and milkshakes. All very good !

We think the food is just fine. Its about on par with Chilis. The spinach dip, onions rings, and burgers are good, and my husband likes the reuben sandwich. He's never had a soggy sandwich. The milkshakes are pretty good too.

We don't go to eat fancy food. Its decent food in a fun atmosphere.

We have past on the Sci fi for the past couple of years, not because we did not want to but because we just had other places togo. But we will diffently try It the next trip In march. Ya I am old enough to know the Drive Ins and really do miss the Siting In the car as a kid at the Dive Inn waiting for Malts and the bugers. The food does not have to be great its the ambeince that I am looking for.

Like others have said. Sci-Fi isn't so much about the food as it is the experience. My girls love it! There is something very "Disney" about walking out of the harsh summer sun in the middle of the day into a doorway and then back "outside" into a starlit sky at a drive-in!

Plus the milkshakes are pretty killer!

we always get burgers, fries and a shake here - never a problem - we go more for the atmosphere/theming than the food

We eat here every trip and usually order the same thing. Burgers, onion rings, and maybe a shake. We don't think the food is anything spectacular, but it beats the burgers at counter service restaurants by a long shot. So for us, being able to get away from the crowds, sit in very quiet restaurant, and enjoy the atmosphere...it is 100% worth it! We don't do the dining plan and think paying a couple more bucks for a sit down experience (over counter service) is worth it!

My husband says the ribs are the best. I really liked the shrimp pasta. Very good!!

We tried it in Oct( review in my siggy) and enjoyed it. I love the dessert I had.

Just bring a sweater because it gets freezing in there.

Our kids love Sci-Fi for the experience, so I keep booking it. We have been there 3x. First time I got a burger and DH got some sort of turkey sandwich. We both thought our meals were awful, but understand that sometimes the chef has "off" days or the meat quality may not be as good as other days, etc. So the second time we went, I got another burger and it was just as bad as the first time. So this last time we went, I got the salad and the lettuce was great -- it was a chunk off a lettuce head and I simply had to cut it up. However, I couldn't find a dressing that I liked and that sort of ruined the meal for me. So....next time I plan to try the shrimp pasta or maybe the ribs or a steak if it's offered. We will keep going back for the atmosphere, and I will keep trying a different meal (which is fine with me)!

I'm pretty picky and not a sandwich fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed my Reuben.

I didn't care for how narrow the 'table' was and it was tricky dealing with my meal and having DS beside me and tending to his needs at the same time.

I was also a bit concerned about whether I'd fit in the car since I'm "Pooh sized" and carry a lot of weight in my belly, but I did fit.
