Does anyone have anything good to say about the food??? I know the atmosphere is great but it seems everything I read in the guidebooks really pans the food. (I haven't been since I was in my late teens and don't remember the food at all) I was hoping to book lunch. We are a family of 4 w/ young children (under 6) Making my ps'gs next week!!!! :Pinkbounc yeah!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc

It's not exactly gourmet! But if you can eat at a diner, you won't mind the food there and the atmosphere is definitely fun for all and worth it. Since your kids are young, explain to them what drive-in's are/were (assuming that, like my kids, they've never been to one). Tell them about the movies from the 50's (since clips of these are what is shown on the big screen) I told mine, "This is what your Grandmom watched when she was a teenager." That way they will get more out of the "experience".
We always just order burgers, fries and sodas. The portions are big, even the kid's meals. My DS6 and DD3 shared a kids meal!

Try it! Make the PS for it, though. We did and while we were waiting to be seated they were telling walk-in's that the wait is 3 hours! And this was in the off season!

This coming trip we want to try the 50's Prime Time Cafe....just for something new (to the kids, at least).

Hope this helps! :flower1:

I've found the food to be hit or miss. I remember one time the fries tasted like they came out of an Orieda bag.

Did Sci-fi on an MGM Emh night, wan't busy at all, 5 minute wait(at 8pm), food was good, kids love the surroundings. It's a favorite of ours at MGM

We're just back and actually just ate at the Sci-Fi last Tuesday. We thought it was good. We all had burgers and fries, which were tasty. Go for it!

We ate there for the first time last month and just loved it. The food was better than we were expecting. My wife and myself split the Flat Iron Steak Sandwich and it was very good. We are going to make this a regular place to eat on each trip.

We enjoy lunch--burgers and fries. It's very relaxing because it's dark and quiet. We tried dinner once and didn't care for the menu choices. Lunch has more sandwich type items which suits us better.

We tried it once. It was OK, but there are so many better places to eat, I do'nt think we'll be back.

Can you order burgers and stuff for dinner, or are they only available for lunch?

Prtty sure my DH had a burger for dinner when we ate there. I had a chicken caesar salad.

I've always loved this place! I don't really remember complaining about the food or that it was bad. I think I've always liked it and so did my family. However, I think I go more for the atmosphere than the food, but that's not saying it is horrible! I hope that makes sense...

How many can sit at a table? What are the food items you like the best?

The tables are really 'cars' that you sit in, it has two-four rows in each car, and two people can sit in each row. There are actual tables at the back, though, that can sit 4 people I believe.

I love the burgers, fries, and milk shakes.

Stick with the burgers, fries and shakes at lunch and the food at Sci Fi is very good. Try anything else, and you may be disappointed in your food. At least that's been our experience in 5 visits to Sci Fi.

Burgers are not on the menu for dinner, and although you can order one anyway, the one time I did this the burger was much drier than the burgers I've gotten for lunch. For this reason, I still recommend sticking with lunch.

As far as how many can be seated at a table, for the car tables the majority can seat 6 people, with 3 booths seating 2 people each. I think a few of the car tables may only seat 4, although we've never been seated in one of those. All the booths in a car face the same way and some people don't like that, but we think it just adds to the theming. For larger parties, and for those who don't like the seating arrangement in the cars, there are also regular tables.

Go for lunch. They have the BEST burgers. We were very happy with them. But that is all we would get there. Stick with sandwiches or burgers.
Also the milkshakes were very good.

My dh and I split the ruben. It was pretty good, but not fabulous. The atmosphere is worth it though for us. The kids loved it and insist on returning on our next trip.

Glad to hear so many things about the burgers being good. We're planning on doing lunch and I was hoping the food would at least be ok to go along w/ the fun atmosphere. Thank you.

If you stick to simple foods: burgers and fries, for example, you'll be fine. If you're unsure about a meal, you could plan a mid-afternoon snack and go for their milkshakes, which are very good. It'd be a nice cool place to relax for a bit.

We ate there for the first time in November. I was worried too after reading all of the bad reviews. We ate lunch, I had a rueben and my husband had the ribs. Ds had chicken fingers and Dd had a hotdog, both with shakes. Everything was good! No one got sick or any of the horror stories I've read. We plan on eating there again on our next trip.
