Our friends will be joining us for our trip this summer and we want to dine at Sci Fi. The problem is they have a DS who will be 16 months at the time and our DD will be just 2 years old. How does the car seating work with highchairs? We ate there years ago (before kids) and I can't recall how the seating is arranged. DD may or may not be sitting in a booster by then (she is very petite and may not reach the table) but our friends' DS will still need a highchair at least. Thanks!:goodvibes

To have a high chair you will have to sit at a table...not a car.

You didn't ask this but I'll throw it out anyway..consider that the movies playing are monsters and creatures that may frighten toddlers. This might be a better choice in acouple years.

Disney playhouse or 50's cafe msy be more enjoyable for that age.

On another thread, I think maybe the one that shows photos of the inside of the restaurants, someone posted pics from their trip and it showed a baby in a high chair at the cars. It looked like a high chair that you would have at home with a tray, not the kind that pulls up to the table like you normally see at restaurants. The high chair just sat in the aisle, adjacent to the car/booth. I'm sure this is something they have down pat with the amount of little ones that come through there.

We were just there last week with our 10 month old! We originally put her in a high chair that they pushed up to the side of the car, leaving it in the aisle. It seemed awkward to me so I tried her in a booster and she did great! The seats are close enough to the table that it was not much different than being in a high chair and it was easier for me to keep an eye (and a hand!) on her.

I was worried about it before I got there but it really was fine. I actually almost changed our reservation at the last minute and am glad I didn't. They are so used to dealing with kids that they didn't even blink.

Speaking of the movies, our 2.5 year old loved them and the 10 month old mostly ignored them in favor of her french fries. :cutie:

I stand corrected then, they must have changed their policy (perhaps because enough people complained about being stuck at the tables just because they had a baby) but that's what we were told the only option was if we wanted a high chair (this was in December, 2008). We decided to eat somewhere else as we knew the older kids would not be happy sitting at an ordinary table instead of the cool cars! That would have been our first time at Sci Fi...and about 3 months later we went back without the baby and realized it was probably better anyway.

I guess I should have caveated my suggestion with "of course you know your kid best", lol....but I have to say the number of scared crying baby's and parents taking those little ones outside to calm down made me glad we didn't go in that time. I know that we adults think the creatures are funny and campy, but the littlest ones that think everything is real sure do freak out when a 20 foot creature from the black lagoon raises their arms and screeches. So...consider my suggestion in case you weren't aware of the movies playing I guess.

We have done playhouse 2 summers in a row and were looking for something different. I personally don't care for the food at 50's and we have all also been there before too. I do remember the movies playing last time we went but didn't recall what they played on the screen so it's something we will think about.

Yes they pull high chairs up to the cars. I've never heard any crying babies in there. Our grandson, 3, was scared of almost everything at WDW but loved Sci fi.

I worried about my 4 yr old-major chicken, but he either didn't pay attn to the screen or laughed at it. Most of the movies were total B-movies, and the scary things were very silly looking compared to what kids see today. And they played a long portion of a Tom and Jerry cartoon which my kids loved. We tried it for the first time last week and LOVED IT!! Some of the best onion rings I've ever had!!
