Sci-Fi Diner (HS)...is it worth the experience?

Personally, I think it is the second best food in DHS. ( Brown Derby is far and away number 1!). We enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I think we'll do that for our DHS day over spring break! DS has already requested a chicken Caesar sandwich from Min and Bills, but I might have to bribe him with a milkshake ;). Thanks for the thought!

We tried Sci-Fi for the first time last year and really liked it. The food was good, prices were good, and the atmosphere was cool!

The car theme gets old quick and the stuff on screen is just unwatchable.

Our family loves Sci-Fi and we do it every visit. However, we do not like sitting in the car not being able to converse so we sit at one of the tables in the back where the seats face each other. The kids get a kick out of the drive-in atmosphere because they have never been to one (it kind of makes me feel old though). Nice and cool in there too.

Sci-fi dine-in is amazing! Food is good and the ambiance is great. It's one of our favorite.

we love the cool, dark and quiet in sci-fi, a nice break from the heat and sun - for us, it's burgers, fries & shakes - i enjoy the 45 min "loop" on the screen so much i listen to it on d-cot now!

a "must do" every trip - also the 50s (food is better there) - when we've gone to the 50s and DH has had a headache, we'll just mention that to our "aunt" or "cousin" and they'll tone down or skip the antics altogether

Last time we went there, we all loved it! We were supposed to be seated at a 4-top table (we were a party of 4) but when nephew (4yrs old at that time) saw the cars, he wanted to sit in a car. So they gave us two rows of car seats instead. We had lunch around 3pm during a low-crowd day so the place was pretty much empty. To this day, nephew always says he wants to go back to the car restaurant :rotfl2:

I had a burger and thought it was absolutely delicious. Sis ate off the appetizer menu (popcorn chicken and onion rings) because she doesn't like bugers, steak or fish (she's weird). My bro had the salmon BLT and said it was absolutely delicious! Nephew had popcorn chicken with fries which he didn't eat much of because he kept dipping into everyone's milk shake instead :lmao: His kid's meal also came with a desert and the CM who served us offered to substitute his desert for a small shake to go if he wanted it. When he brought it back, it had a little Lightning McQueen clip-on on the straw. He said it was supposed to blink but this one was broken so they couldn't give it out with the regular drinks. So he usually just randomly gives them out to kids. We thought that was so sweet. Not only had he noticed that nephew was big on the milk shake, but also that he was a big Cars fan!

We went back to the restaurant a couple days later just because the CM had been so nice to us. Unfortunately, it was his day off but we still had great food, entertainment and service there!

I usually recommend this place to everyone I talk to. If you don't want to go for the food, then go for the atmosphere!

I have to ask, I have never heard of the Space Monkey before, what is it exactly....I am really intrigued by this :goodvibes.

This was an adult milkshake-vanilla with banana and chocolate liqueurs, if I remember correctly. The emphasis is on "was" because when we went two weeks ago, we discovered it had been removed from the menu. I thought my husband was going to tear up. The fantastic waiter said he thought the bar still had the ingredients to make it, so they made us one anyway. We toasted our final farewells to one of our most looked-forward-to treats that will never be again:sad:.

On the fence about this one to cancel...have a Dinner Res (no DDP) on our last night (only one I could find for SF) for our party of 3 and the whole not being able to converse each other bothers me. I've been to similar places and the car was more like a corner booth so everyone could sit next to each other (or at least a family of 4).

The only option appears to sit in the back - do they hold a few of those seats or will we have no choice? Also how loud is it or do they have speakers near your car/table like at the old drive-ins? Do they play the actual dialogue from the clips or is it just music piped in over it?

We absolutely LOVE Sci Fi diner! The food is average diner food but the atmosphere is so fun!

you can ask to sit at one of the tables in the back, there is also a car that has 2 small tables that seat 4 each. It's not really loud at all, yes there are speakers near you and they do play the actual dialogue from the movies

Thanks for the info - that helps. We are still a few weeks away so I'll hold the res a bit longer before making the decision.
