My wife, her parents, our 5 month old and I are heading to Disney in February. We have dined mostly at all of the Disney Signature restaurants. I'm a firm believer in new experiences and the Sci-Fi diner intrigued me as an opportunity to indulge in my guilty pleasure of a good milkshake, especially one that includes Baileys Irish Cream and Kahlua! With that being said, how is the rest of the meal apart from the milkshake?

I ate there last month and really enjoyed the experience. Wish I had noticed the tipsy milkshakes on the menu! I had the ribs. They were very good, but they just changed their menu and the ribs are gone. My son had a burger and it was actually really good. I kept taking bites of his burger!!

We ate there 2 years ago. I agree the burgers are great but the onion rings were better. Even the non-alcoholic milkshakes are wonderful.

Sci-Fi is a different atmosphere experience with a menu that's similar to many other restaurants with nothing to really brag about. Not necessarily bad, but not worth the price beyond the first-time experience.

I read some complaints about the food here but I've ordered the Rueben and a chicken sandwich (we ate there 2x) and of course got milkshakes and have no complaints. I love Sci-Fi and think everyone should go at least once to see the dining room!

Sci Fi is the my personal favorite, out of all the Themed Restaurants..and they use Angus beef for there burgers..NICE!

We've eatten here a few times too - love the atmosphere! The food was good too. We had burgers, fries and milkshakes.

I was there last week and had the ribs (so I guess they are back on?) and my wife had the mango glazed tofu.

She loved hers and I really enjoyed mine. My wife is a veggietarian and they actually have a more unique item in the tofu.

The dinning room is really nice though if you have a group of more then two you need multible tables. And its a little dark.

The whole "sci-fi" theme is done well thought I wish there was a bigger variety of clips on the screen. There is about 45 minutes worth of clips before you repeat. So your most likely to see a round 2 of them during your stay.

Its really good, if unoriginal, food in a nice unique place.

The Marsha's Martian milkshake does sound A-MAZ-ING! I don't think hubby & I will be able to squeeze a meal at Sci-Fi into our day at HS, so maybe we can pop in and share one of those yummy adult milkshakes!

To the bolded, this is my biggest complaint about Sci Fi. I thought we were actually going to watch B-movies, but it's just a bunch of trailers. They could totally show Them! (which is where Disney found the actor for Davey Crockett) or Attack of the Giant Gila Monster. I doubt the rights to those movies are very much. :rotfl: And they're quite good, as well. But I am a HUGE B-movie fan.

The atmosphere is great, and the food was so-so. I had the chicken. It was greasy. I'm going to try a burger next time, though. :thumbsup2 Everyone else in our party liked the food, though. I think I was the only one who wasn't a fan. My dad got the rueben and thought it was good. I forget what everyone else got. He always gets the rueben if there is one on the menu. :)

I agree. I think everyone should go once cause the theme is really unique and so much fun! I love this place. They do have a new menu now, ribs are gone, but they made many additions. Including more variety of burgers which is nice cause thats what most ppl seem to want. And they are VERY good burgers btw. There's more options for vegetarians as well, including sweet potato fries!!!! yummy!!

Its definitely worth checking out. When I go to disney, yes i want good food, but i also want a unique fun atmosphere that i cant get back home. Sci Fi is definitely unique and fun...even if the food isnt going to knock your socks off, its pretty tasty stuff nonetheless. I never had a bad meal here.

I thought it was a unique experience. Both DW and I had the reuben and it was really good. Kids really didn't eat though becuase they were mesmorized by what wa on the big screen.

My biggest complaint is how dark the place was (part of the theming). I couldn't see a thing. Bring a flashlight if you want to read the menu and your bill. :3dglasses

We are big fans of Sci-Fi. :cool1:

The kids would mutiny if they didn't get a shake.

As others have said the burgers are very good. But we have other favorites as well, BLT soup, Beef and blue salad, Reuben, along with the onion rings.

enjoy

Thanks for all the great information! I'll try to remember to pack a flashlight to read the menu and the check. I made an ADR for February to try something new, while enjoying some of our old favorites...Via Napoli, Le Cellier, Jiko, California Grill, Kouzzina and Flying Fish. Thanks to all who responded!
