SCI FI Dine IN

Not to thread hijack, but we have the same dilemma on sci-fi, and I am also wondering, is it possible to sit "3-across" in the cars? Seems kinda lame if I sit with DS and DH has to sit by himself in the "back seat!"

Another vote from me! I loved the theming! We stuck with burgers and they were great. No, this is not a place for fancy cuisine or chatty power lunch! Very Disney, I loved it!

Just go. We go every year and have never anything close to a bad meal, plus the atmosphere is so cool!!

I agree it's best to stick with burgers and fries! It's a fun place that you should try at least once. We've gone a few times now and won't go back. The food isn't the best and we've found the service to be lacking to put it nicely. We'd rather spend our money elsewhere. Also they've been playing the same movie clips for years.

Your first time going though will be fun. The atmosphere can't be beat.

Honestly, I find two across to be somewhat cramped. I cannot imagine eating in those booths with three across. The biggest complaint regarding the Sci-Fi (and I think it has already been mentioned before) is that the seating makes it difficult to communicate with your party.

Another Vote YAY! We raised 3 sons who LOVED this place growing up, and it remains a family tradition. With all the princess-y stuff at WDW this comes close to being a "BOY" thing, and we all think it is a blast. Of course we started going there before there were on-line boards to tell us how bad it was, so for years we enjoyed it without knowing what bad reviews it got!:lmao:

We started taking our kids 12+ years ago to WDW. For some reason, we didn't try Sci-Fi until a couple of years ago. It is our kids FAVORITE restaurant. The movies are great! We have always stuck to the basic burgers, fries, shakes (based on reading advice on this board). We haven't had a bad meal. Yes, you can't really have a conversation while seated in the cars with those behind or in front of you. But we have always been too busy watching the movies to care.

Its a favorite with our kids as well. The food isn't bad if you stick to the basics (I've never strayed from them here) and the theming is great. Its a little pricey for the quality of the food, but when you consider the atmosphere, it isn't horrible.

We love Sci-Fi. This year will be our 3rd visit. DD loves the ribs and the milkshakes are so good. My only complaint is even with an ADR we usually have to wait a little while for our table, er, car.

You read good and bad about every restaurant on these boards. I always try them for myself and decide. I have yet to be let down by any TS meal.

I have been there several times and enjoyed the food each time. It's a lot of fun and a unique experience. The service was good also.

I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. We have not been since 1997, I can't believe it's been 11 years. I just scared myself. :scared1:

Anyway, it was my 16 yr old DD only request, so of course we are going. If she remembers it from when she was 4, almost 5 years old, there must be something good about the experience. She still has a glow in the dark frisbee too and is hoping to get another one.

I think it is a great place to go. As others have said, stick with the basics and I think you'll be fine.

Happy Planning!

We enjoyed SciFi - I would recommend for lunch rather than dinner based on the menu.

If you have small kids, make sure that when they ask you if you want a "stretch limo" if it comes available first, that you decline. To be fair, they showed me a picture, but I didn't pay much attention and agreed (a stretch limo sounded cool to me)...it is basically a table with side chairs with a car front/back attached to the table ends....you are not sitting "in a car" so you lose the affect. My kids were disappointed, but we were tired so we went ahead and took it. It really is for larger parties that want to sit together or perhaps for a wheelchair or someone who cannot get into the "car" easily.

Every time I ask my kids where they want to go for dinner they respond, "SCIFI". Doesn't matter that we are about 1100 miles away. I can take it or leave it, but they absolutely love it.

SciFi is a must do every visit to Disney for my family. I do agree with those who have posted it is better at lunch than dinner. The cookies & cream milkshake is wonderful! My daughters still quote funny things from the movies...one of our favorites is "I don't want to grow anymore!" Great memories!!!

All of these posts are spot on - Sci Fi is an amazing place to eat and should definitely be a must do! :thumbsup2

Sci-Fi is our family's "Must-do"... of course the kid-vote weighs in heavily!

Go for it!

My kids loved it even our youngest! It was one of the quietest meals we had the whole time (kids were glued). We actually had to pry them away to leave. Food was fine. I had onion rings as a appy which was good too. Milkshakes were very good too. Great place to cool off.

We went to Sci-Fi for Lunch in July. It was one of my favourite meals of the whole holiday. The food was really nice, and the atmosphere is so fun. princess:

I felt the same way as I had heard bad reports, but wanted to go. I went anyway and would say to go and give it a try. It is a great themed place for the guys because they seat you in the cars. I wasn't crazy about the food, but would do it again anyway for the theme. Everyone has different tastes, you might just love it.
