Hey everyone! I never really venture over here from the Trip Reports board but I needed some opinions. We'll be spending two weeks at Disney this coming August and I'm having trouble picking a restaurant for our second MGM day. Our first day at the park will just be my immediate family and I, and we'll be eating at the Back Lot Express since my brother loves their turkey sandwich. On our second day though, my aunt and little cousin Alison (who will be 8 at the time) will be joining us. It's their first trip to Disney so they've never eaten at any of the restaurants.

I'm torn between dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine In or heading over to the Beach Club for some Beaches and Cream. We went to the Sci-Fi in 2007 and loved it, and went to Beaches and Cream in both 2005 and 2006 and also loved it. I know my cousin will love the atmosphere of the Sci-Fi and the ice cream at Beaches and Cream. Both would be around the same price. Any recent reviews and opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

The only reason I would choose Sci Fi over B&C is that Sci FI takes adrs. B&C does not and can be really really packed at mealtimes. If you choose to go over to B&C at dinnertime, you may have a long wait for a table.

We love them both and honestly the burgers and onion rings are great at both places so I guess it depends on if you want a No Way Jose or a boozy milkshake??

I think I would choose Sci-Fi mainly because they take reservations. I enjoy being able to take a break from the parks in an air conditioned area knowing I will be able to sit soon after I arrive. You could always stop at Beaches N Cream later for ice cream. We usually go at an off time and have little to no wait.

I only like Sci Fi for the scenery. I hate their food. Now Beaches & Cream..I'd wait in line for that. If you time it right though you can be in luck. Also, you can order food for the to go window and eat it outside at the tables near the pool or arcade.

Do Sci Fi because you'll be in the park anyhow.
And it would take alot of time to go to Beach Club.
Basically end your day at the park.

You'll there two week? I'm sure you can find some time to head over to Beachs and Cream for ice cream at an off time.
Like a relaxing non-parks day maybe for a late or early lunch
or 1/2 parks day a and go in the evening just for ice cream?
Gotta have the Kitchen Sink.

We prefer the burgers, fries, & O-rings at Sci-fi. We haven't tried anything else on their menu. The ice cream at B&C is great though.

I know that the Sci-Fi is a burgers and fries type of place, but my mom and I are vegetarians. Has anyone tried the actual food? We still ate meat on our last trip. That's the only thing I'm nervous about - the veggie wrap at B&C looks good, but I don't know how shrimp pasta from Sci-Fi would be!

I would say Sci Fi, I think they have the best cheeseburgers and spinach artichoke dip ever!!
plus its fun to eat there. We love the cheesey b movie trailers.. HTH

OK now I just read your vegitarian.. so much for the burgers lol
sorry to be of no help on the food choices
