Just got back 2 weeks ago.....tried Sci Fi for the 2nd time.....first time was free dining and to maximize benefit I ordered the steak.....worst thing I ever ate.....but my own fault....who gets steak at a drive in!LOL Experience was ok....but food was horrible and service was meh. This time....decided to get the turkey sandwich and fried pickles as per Fiasco's recommendation and it was good....but the service was awful...and seemed like they changed the movie clips. In total...not an awful experience....but I think twice and I'm done!

Sorry to hear about your experiences. I stick with burgers/rings/shakes and always enjoy it. Honestly one of the best burgers I ever had at WDW was at Sci-Fi. I hate it when poor service ruins a meal.

I didn’t even get to enjoy the movie clips on my January visit; I’m a solo diner and they stuck me in the back of a car that had half of a large party (the rest of the party was in the car next to us) and kids and adults were bouncing back and forth and it was horrible. The service and food was great though. I’m glad for the distancing requirements on my upcoming trip that should solve the crazy party problem.

Sci-Fi is a terrible place to be an odd wheel. It's usually just the 3 of us, so whoever sits in the back by themselves might as well be eating by themselves. However, that might be a good thing  We quit going because of it and the lack of compelling menu items.

Perhaps if you are a party of 3 that’s true.

But this is probably my absolute favorite to do solo! Love being the hitchhiker :love:Burgers and shakes at the drive-in... yum:cloud9:

I definitely wouldn’t appreciate disruptive diners in the car whether I was solo or not... luckily most folks are better mannered than that!

Aside from the cat who hates people disappearing, the clips haven’t changed.

We love Sci Fi and go every trip... I always get a cheeseburger and never had an issue with their food. Service can be slow at times, but I’ve experienced that at many restaurants in WDW. Sorry you had a crappy experience.

My daughter and her husband are in Disney this week and she was so excited to try Sci Fi! They both got the burger and were both sick before they even finished their meal! She said never again! One and done for her!!

I don’t know if was the greasiness or what, but my son and I felt unwell after eating there last trip and had to go back to our hotel and lay down for a while. Very strange!

Me too. I’m not really a burger fan so I never order one, but my daughter gave me a bite of her burger at Sci Fi and I ended up eating the whole thing. Lol.

Fear of a situation like this is precisely the reason I have avoided it. It seems to be second only to Biergarten as the most awkward for solo travelers. (In normal times obviously.) I’m usually scoffed at when I mention the fear, so I am glad to know it is not as silly as others seem to think.

I am hoping that I can get a reservation in January - and that physical distancing (it is so much more accurate to call it that - there is nothing social about being distant) is still happening.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Sci-fi is a must do for us every trip. We always stick to the burgers or buffalo chicken strips and have enjoyed both. I don't remember if the service was slow or bad in January but to be honest I enjoy being there so much I'm not sure I would notice.
On our trip last October someone stole our table and the waiter was so horrified he was extra attentive to us.

How does that happen? Did everyone go to the bathroom at the same time?

When we checked in they gave us a pager and we went outside to wait. The buzzer never went off and after about 15 minutes I went to check on it. The hostess said they had called our name and a family said it was them. She had the waiter remove them from our table.
He said he'd heard of it happening before but it was a first for him. He said the mom said they were tired of waiting for a table.

Ah, ok. That makes sense. (Not saying it's right.)

Dumb question about Sci-Fi. How 'scary' are the sci-fi movie clips. My four year old daughter is a bit of a scaredy cat. Is there anything there that's gonna freak her out? Or is it all pretty tame?

The random little kids I was sitting by in January got a bit freaked out by some of them so it’s possible. Someone mentioned that they like to watch one of the clips on YouTube, so maybe more are available there and you can check them out before you accidentally freak her out in the middle of the meal?
