Schwan's...What do you like?

It's been years since I've bought from Schwan's. Today, a salesman stopped with a holiday catalog and I'm mighty tempted to order some of the goodies.

What do you like from Schwan's? Anyone tried the lasagna? We're having back to back parties on xmas, so I'm looking for some shortcuts.

We don't buy much from Schwans anymore, their prices are bordering on ridiculous.

We love both the regular lasagna and the veggie ones (individual works well for our family).
I also love the chicken alfredo with pasta.... it is yummy.
Of course their ice cream is good (but too expensive, I never buy it anymore).
I have bought a spiral ham before and it was good too.
The prime rib was good too (I had it last year).
We tried one of the dips, I can't remember which one... but it was good.
I have pretty much liked everything I have bought from them.

We like pretty much everything except the beef (steaks). Their skinless chicken breasts are wonderful. Their frozen veges are also great-they taste very fresh every time. We LOVE the asparagus. The ice cream is kind of a no brainer. They have an appetizer sampler (at least they have in the past) that is handy to have around this time of the year for drop in company. We always get their cheese tortellini, the kids love it and it is a 5 minute meal!

My sister's family really likes their vegetable lasagna. I haven't tried it though.

We like alot of the stuff too, but I would have to agree--the prices are starting to go over the top. They are starting to add a gas tax onto the total of your order now. I have pretty much stopped buying from them.

Oh Yes! These are both wonderful!

And I agree with the veggies being great too. Especially the asparagus! Fabulous!!
You truly pay for the convenience of them bringing it to you.

They don't work, they don't get paid, there for probably don't eat.

It is a 1.00/order at least here in Ohio and since corp office is in MN I'd say it's same there.

I like their langana, chicken, pot pies.
I don't personally care for Bread sticks or cheese bread. their french bread is good.

I agree they are expensive but the quality is there and you don't have to go shopping ou in cold to get it.

A big chunk of their business is route delivery and when the gas prices skyrocketed they started adding the $1 surcharge to help cover their fuel costs. I know Marvin Schwan (the founder) is rolling over in his grave about that one. Their home route sales trucks are propane powered trucks, they converted in the 70's when the gas crisis happened. I am going to be interested to see if they remove that surcharge after the first of the year for several reasons.

We only order from Schwan’s occasionally since it’s not inexpensive. We love their chicken fajita breast meat and DH absolutely adores their chicken pot pies.

well besides the cutie petutie that delivers......hahaha........The kids that I babysit for and my sisters grandkids.....all love the chicken fries......they are so good and delicious.....I love the new chicken with rice that came out a few months ago. The ice cream dixie cups are the top premium ice cream so I still get that........The kids also have a liking to the corn dogs......yes it is expensive and the one dollar gas tax is not much but the quality of the food is excellent...

oh, I dont like the bagel dogs. I don't even like how they smell.
