I thought I would start a single thread that we could use to post inexpensive finds on School Supplies.

Staples has several items for a penny:
2 pocket paper folders (limit 10)
8pk of #2 yellow pencils (limit 2)
Purell .5 oz bottles (limit 2)

Staples for a quarter:
Poly assorted binders (limit 4)

Staples for free after rebate:
4pk of retractable assorted highlighters (limit 1)

I have heard that Walmart has crayons, markers, colored pencils, paints, etc on sale, but I don't have exact prices.
Someone posted on another thread Super Wal-mart had the 70 page, spiral one subject notebooks for 5 cents each.

Target $1 spot has reusable lunch bags and sandwich savers for $1. They also had some pkgs of fancy erasers for $1.

Anyone else??

:teacher:

Wal-mart sale:

spiral one subject 70 page notebooks for 5 cents
24 pack of crayons for 22 cents
40 pack neon eraser tops 22 cents
Elmer's glue sticks or bottle 30 cents

other school supplies are also on sale

Our WalMart had the glue/glue sticks for 22 cents. Also 12 pack color pencils (Crayola) 22 cents.

nothing to add but wanted to say thank you! I never would've known to head to the Staples sale unless I read it here. We are good on pencils and folders for September. They were out of the $.01 purell though (great for lunch boxes).

great thread - i'm on the lookout for composition notebooks......

Thanks for the heads up everyone! I have not been to Wal-Mart or Target in ages --I was wondering if either of them has their bookbags out yet? My daughter is in search of a Jonas Brothers one this year so any info would be greatly appreciated!!:thumbsup2

Walmart had there backpacks out but I did not look at them.

Walmart has the composition notebooks for 50 cents.

I'm not sure how long the prices at Walmart are good for but they had actual price sticker on the items with these prices so I'm guessing for a while.

Picked up a bunch og notebooks at Walmart . They had none out so I asked and she brought out to boxes of them. Also got glue ,crayons and glue stix.

This is a great deal. I remember they were 10 cents last year. I buy tons of these and use them for DS's to draw in. Much cheaper than construction paper..........

I am on the hunt for 5 inch binders for a good deal and tab folders with pockets I think. Not the ones you have to print the labels out for the ones you write the subjects in for.
Also possibly pencil boxes.

I am annoyed at the school for not sending a list of what is needed home while the sales are on. Waiting til when school starts back just before labor day things will be picked over and probably not on as good of a sale.

Thankfully our school sends home a list with a "getting ready for ___ grade" booklet filled with practice sheets to use over the summer and keep the kids up to date on what they have learned over the last year.

I have picked up the penny deals & 2 of the pliable binders for $0.25 at Staples and Walmart is having the $0.05 sale on the notebooks through Saturday and then possibly going to $0.10 each after that. Oh, I bought 80 in one shot so no limit either!!!

The rest I'll hold off on because I know last year I got the glue sticks and crayons for a little less. The $.22 will stick for awhile at Walmart. Also saw bookbags out at Walmart and Toys R Us but we don't need those this year. Toys R Us this week has the free lunch bag with Backpack purchase.

This is my first year in a long time in which I will be shopping for BTS supplies. My daughter starts Kindergarten this year. After looking at the list it seems pretty simple and "cheap" for the most part. Sounds like I may have to stop off at Wal-mart to get some of the crayons, etc. (I usually shop Target as its closer).

This is what they told me at my Walmart:

They didn't have any 5 cent notebooks out on the shelf. Just the sign that said where they belonged. So, I went up to the service desk and asked if they could write me a rain check and she said that she couldnt' that they never do rainchecks. So, then I asked if they could page someone in that department and ask them to check out back to see if they had anymore out back. There were two of them working and they looked at me like I was absolutely crazy. They both said, we can't do that do you know what our backroom looks like? I couldn't believe it. I have never had this response before when I asked someone to check something. They thought I was crazy for asking. I really want to buy those notebooks. I am going to buy a ton of them. We go through them like crazy and I have never seen this price before. The best that I have ever seen is 10 cents.

Thank you for starting this thread!! I am on the hunt for school supplies for my three kids. My dh works right next to a Staples so guess where he is going tomorrow :)

I'm going to check out what I can find at target. I hate the walmart in bufflo(close to the canadian border) It's so bad but I will shop there for cheap supplies. In Canada 50 cents is the cheapest i've seen pencils, $2 for pencil crayons, 69 cents for paper. Last year I shopped a bit to late but still got a whole bunch of deals at target.

Five inch binders are really expensive--I have never found them on sale. DS had to have two of them for science last year adn I thik I paid like $30 for them--way too much! If you see them on sale, grab them fast!

That response is unacceptable customer service and I would take a few minutes to send a snail mail to Wal-Mart corporate. Explain the lack of customer service and the situation as you described it here.
