Hoping someone can help me with an idea for an easy snack to go to DDs classroom on Thursday, her birthday. She is in 4th Grade and will be turning 10. I am looking for something that will be able to be handed out, individual servings, without having to be cut. Not too difficult to make either.

I have done Cone Cupcakes, Tie Dye Cupcakes, and S'mores (the rolled marshmallow kind) as I have made these all for previous birthdays.

Anything is appreciated. I have been searching websites, but to no avail.

Thank you!

Rice Krispies Treats? Either the ones you make yourself (I think they taste better!!) or the pre-packaged ones.

Looking forward to reading some creative replies. Here are a few ideas:

* dipped marshmallows - 2/3 marshmallows on a skewer and dipped in chocolate or melted frosting and then in jimmies/mini chips/toffee bits, etc...then you can "plant" the marshmallows in florist foam in a terracotta pot. Can also dip pretzel rods but don't "plant" in the foam!

* mini cheesecakes in chocolate cup or fluted paper

* brownies - cut out w/cookie cutters to be fun and wrapped in colored plastic and tied w/curly ribbon

* goody bag filled w/10 little treats (candy, pencil, eraser, etc)

* mini ice cream sandwiches

I bet there are some great ideas on the family fun website:

What about cupcakes baked in ice cream cones. If you do a google search you will come up with lots of pictures/recipes. They are super easy to make and less messy than regular cupcakes.

craft store, get a heart shape made up of floral foam, styrofoam, cover it with foil or red sheer saranwrap, cut up fruits and grapes, skewer them and stick into foam, looks like a fruit heart, super girlish/femi:flower3: nine

Thanks everyone! DD likes the idea of the fruit and the heart shaped foam. I will try to take a picture.....

She had originally wanted to do the cone cupcakes, but the transportation presents an issue. Last time I did that DSister who takes them to school since I am at work wasn't very happy with me.

Family Fun is a great website, but nothing has hit us as wow that is it.

we usually do the rice krispy treats in fun colors. i have a box of neon food colors, so she likes to pick out a few of those. (you can drizzle melted chocolate over the tops too.) i cut them into squares and put them in one of those cupcake carriers. there's enough room to put napkins and everything in there and she can take it to school by herself now. much easier than bringing in cupcakes for the whole class, especially since i have two babies at home and she has a winter birthday...

we also make the wilton candy melts with the big pretzel rods. (usually for a holiday party, but you could do them if you find a mold that's not holiday themed.) they look like a lollipop, but are substantial enough to be a little snack. they are really easy to make.

You folks are much more creative than me. I'm subscribing because I have two birthdays coming up. DS8 on February 9th and DD4 on February 14th. I know DD4 will love the idea with the hears and fruit since her birthday is on Valentine's Day. There are some severe allergies in her classroom but everyone can have fruit. Great question OP.

My kids both have May birthdays, and one year I sent in 2 boxes of ice cream sandwiches. I asked the teachers first, just in case they had a problem with it. I was able to bring them in and put them in the Faculty room freezer. The kids loved them...it was something different.

I've also made "cookie pops"....basically sugar cookies baked with popsicle stick in them. I used icing to make the number of their age on the cookie...I just piped it on. They were cute.

As a teacher myself (preschool), I request that no cupcakes be sent. It's my experience that they never eat them. They lick off the icing and the rest end up either in the garbage or on the floor...

Last year DS was in third grade, I took brownies ala mode. Plus chocolate sauce, m&m's and sprinkles. I served them in bowls so it wasnt all messy!

Thew district that I work in doesn't allow any homemade treats in the schools. Everything has to be store bought and in the original wrappings. Bakery cupcakes are okay but not homemade. Several of my first graders bring in the packages of fruit snacks and they are very popular. This year a mom sent in bags of popcorn, bowls and juice boxes. The kids loved that one.
