school is stressing me OUT! best de-stressor? a trip to Disney of course! pg 25 p 364

Hey I jumped over from my PTR, great plans so far and I can't wait to hear more!!!

Natalie

I'm just checking in really quick....

I am so excited that I had to share (not that you guys may care :rotfl: )
but, just since I have changed to not eating starches, since Wednesday, I lost 3.4#'s...hoping by the 7th day I at least hit 5#'s. This may give me incentive yet! :confused3

Taking Ashton to a photo shoot with live bunnies and chicks, his first, hoping he poses cute and sweet and not trying to bring in the monster claws.

Have a great day! everyone

:woohoo: Congrats on the weight loss!!!! Have fun at the photo shoot!!!

Good for you Connie! Congratulations! From someone who fights the weight battle, I know how much every pound counts! :thumbsup2

Hey I jumped over from my PTR, great plans so far and I can't wait to hear more!!!

Natalie
:welcome: over!!! Natalie :yay:

hope you stick around for some planning fun! I told Danny last night he needed to get serious with helping me plan and again he looked at me and said that is too far away for me to think about right now...

OK! enough already with all my personal probs BUT A BIG THANK YOU TO EACH OF YOU FOR THE SUPPORT AND WISHES!! :hug:;
back to planning...

I just asked Danny if he wanted to dress up for the MNSSHP and I was told not really :confused3

so, I think I may head over to the creative boards and see if I can find some graphics to maybe come up with some t-shirts at least.
(do any of you have any suggestions of creative dissers that you prefer?)

I believe Ashton is going to end up dressing up as Jack Sparrow, thanks! Jill. Leanne had sent me a picture of a really cute costume of "Prince Charming" since most of the girls will be dressed as princesses. Well, Danny told me to let Ashton choose what he would like to dress up as....

so, I showed him both costumes, while on the Prince Charming costume on the right hand side of the page was a Knight's sword and shield. Well, HE WANTS TO BE A KNIGHT! because he wants a "big shiny shield and sword":rotfl2:

I had originally thought I was going to make him an appt at the Pirate's League and have Danny & I's face painted too; than just have some sort of pirate t-shirt done. :confused3

Now, Ashton has never had his face painted (deprived child I know), and now I'm starting to wonder if I need to paint him up and see what he thinks about it. If it is hot and sticky we may just be wasting our time and money :confused3

for excursion thoughts (and if any of you guys have ever done any of these or have a better thought let me know please)

Danny and I have been on one cruise in 2001 and we did not go on any excursions...we walked around Cozumel with my parents and the kids.

We will be docking in Key West; they have some awesome water activities BUT since we have never been here and Danny has wanted to visit for a very long time. I have been thinking of a DIY walking tour or rent an electric cart (and follow on of the trolley tours--my dad told me on their last cruise they had about three carts following the trolley) But, if you are not part of the trolley tour you can go off and do your own thing if the tour is not what you expect.

Now, my parents have told me their is NOTHING to do in the Bahamas--but, they do not do water activities. My mom is there to SHOP!! and she prefers Mexico to the Bahamas.

Danny and I on the other hand want to enjoy what the Caribbean has to offer. Niether of us has ever snorkled so we thought that would be alot of fun to try.

My thoughts for Freeport is to find a snorkel excursion
Nautical Catamaran Reef & Snorkel
Freeport, The Bahamas

and for Nassau I was thinking of skipping Atlantis and book an excursion
Wyndham Resort Getaway at Cable Beach with Lunch
Nassau, The Bahamas. it is a resort and you have beach access to just lounge and swim--I really think Danny would enjoy this as he loves to swim in the ocean

or a private island
Blue Lagoon Private Island Getaway with Lunch
Nassau, The Bahamas---the buffet is not as eleborate (I think BBQ chicken and burgers) and not at a fancy resort but the thought of a private island sounds awesome...

I'll post some of the details of the excursions on another post

Blue Lagoon also has a Dolphin Swim, Dolphin encounter and a seal encounter

Ashton will make an adorable Prince Charming! :goodvibes

When we were in Nassau, we did the DIY walking tour and visited Ardastra Botanical Garden and Zoo. We enjoyed the garden, but I don't know that I would pay to go there again. The walking tour was a lot of fun. Jeff and I are not really "lay on the beach" people and we had just spent the day before snorkeling on the Royal Caribbean private island. I'd say definitely do some snorkeling.....the excursions seem to be expensive in Freeport, but Stuart's Cove in Nassau has a cool trip that has three snorkel stops and one where you get to swim with sharks if you choose.

Definitely visit the Straw Market in Nassau....just have your bargaining skills honed and ready to go! I'd skip Atlantis.....it's just a big commercial resort as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure it's beautiful, but it is what it is. I'd choose one of the local beach packages, like Cable Beach. I've heard good things about that one.

So exciting to think about the Bahamas....we have snow on the ground here this morning so the white sand beaches sound good right about now!

Enjoy your planning! :thumbsup2

Hey Connie, just a little piece of advise as far as a costume goes for MNSSHP party... Remember it is still going to be pretty HOT in Sept and you want to make sure whatever costume you go with for Ashton is light weight. We have been to the event 2x's now and I have to tell you I have seen kids in these bulky costumes sweating their little butts off and they looked absolutely miserable!!!

Last we went to the party was in 2009 and we have Devon do Pirates League before the party!!! What an awesome experience and so worth it. And this was the 1st time Devon really had his full face painted too and he was fine with it. It was hot that night too and the makeup didn't run at all!!! Matter to fact he fell asleep on the bus and slept right through the night with his face painted and it still looked good when he woke up!!! :rotfl: One thing I found was it took some serious scrubbing to get that paint off his face the next morning!

thanks! Jen I will look into that one

Thanks! Missy
I have read about Cable Beach and Stuart's Cove; I mentioned Sharks to Danny and he quickly said no thank you :rotfl: although, I know I would be watching from the boat on that stop :rolleyes1 I completely agree with you on Atlantis; but, I would like to visit it one day for maybe a four night thing with Ashton in tow (that may be fun when he is about eight--something to keep in mind later).

Reese, :thanks: Thank you for the costume reminder...I forgot that I had posted the same comments on FB and not here... We live north of new Orleans so I am familiar with the heat and humitity all the way through Halloween ;), it is a real bummer for boys because almost all the costumes are made for fall and we don't really have a fall. That was one of the reasons I was really thinking the pirate costume, but was not sure of the face paint as I had thought about it.

His first year that I dressed him up for Halloween, he was one-his bday is in July, so we skipped it when he was 3 mo, I ordered the Donald Duck costume from the Disney Store. HE WAS SO CUTE! :donald:
we had taken him to Boo at the Zoo, I put his costume on him when we walked in and about 30 min later we had it off; poor baby was so hot! The little girl we went with had on this really cute Lady Bug costume and was cute ALL day!

That is really good to know about the face paint from Pirate's League; two of the fellow disser's meeting us mentioned that the girl's face paint from one of the parks was wiped off and running with sweat. That is what had raised my concern for the FP.

Have a great day!

Joining in!!! Your plans look good! I want to make Jack an appointment at the Pirates League as well, and maybe even one for myself... but we will see if that's in the budget. Looking forward to more!

Congrats on cutting out the starchs!! I love me some bread so it is always a challenge here. Congrats also on the weight loss.
I love to snorkel!! Also like either of the other ones-resort or beach. We did both when we went to Mexico on DCL!!
My girls always want to get their faces painted but with the heat and sweat-i just dont know...

:welcome: to the fun Stephanie! I think I'm going to go ahead and try to get the last appt of the day; the day of MNSSHP and than this summer maybe have his face done at the zoo and see what he thinks. If a no I will cancel the appt.

Hey! Mary,

trying to get Danny on board with cutting the carbs! if I can get him to give up the soda, sweet tea and/or iccee's I know that turkey would drop the weight...which he really needs as bad as I do. It is not good for him to be carrying extra weight on his hip;and if I can get him to stop smoking he may actually be able to feel rested after a night's sleep and would not need the iccee :confused3 (he buys an iccee on his way home from work-for the hour commute to keep him awake; so, I really don't mind it as much as the rest--I rather have him here with us overweight and hacking than not at all because he fell asleep driving home)

I really like the idea of the resort on Nassau; the best of all worlds :thumbsup2
I'm starting to get nervous about snorkeling, I'm the one pushing that Danny is all into it but keeps saying I'm going to chicken out. Maybe I should have visited the water park version at Disney first ;) think I can talk him into that before we leave in 72 days?!? :rotfl2:

I really think I am going to have Ashton face painted this summer and see what he thinks and go from there :cutie:

Let me know if he swings back to the pirate:laughing:It is ready to go for you!

I am so sorry to hear about all the health issues that you guys have had! It is so frustrating, isn't it??

Have fun choosing your cruise excursions! It sounds like so much fun!:goodvibes

First, congrats on loosing weight.:thumbsup2 Every pound counts! Making a lifestyle change is so hard, you should be very proud of yourself for it!

I agree on testing Ashton out of the facepainting before doing the Pirate's League. I'm sure we would try Noah out again, but not for MNSSHP. He just rubbed it off way too soon.

All your ideas for the excursions look fun. I have only snorkeled a few times and I will say it took some getting use to, but it was really cool to do and see the fishies. Oh, and the shallower water, the easier it is.:goodvibes

That's a good plan, you definitely don't want to spend the money if he's going to hate it!

Jill, I really think he is going as a pirate! easiest and I can make it cool or warm whichever way I need to go... pirate: aarrrrggghhhh!

That is just called getting old! and enjoying food just a bit too much! :scared1: it is not bad; it could be worse! we are just both at that age where our metabolism is slowing down, we are not spring chickens anylonger...:rotfl2:

Have fun choosing your cruise excursions! It sounds like so much fun!:goodvibes
I am starting to get soooo nervous and excited! I always get nervous before any big trip...I'm terrible just before I leave for Disney!

Yes, it is hard....although, Danny and I have been doing really well since last week. We even went out to eat last night and I ordered a steak, side salad, and steamed veggies. He ordered a hamburger steak w/onions & mushrooms, side salad, and chili. Today on the other hand, we had to go to a "wake" so I rode with my parents (now my mom is full blown diabetic/on medication) she wanted CHINESE :scared1: I just did not know how to order...so, I'm sure I did not do too well. I ordered the shrimp and brocoli w/fried rice (I brought the rice home to Dayne) and a cup of egg drop soup. I'm sure the soup was the only thing that was OK! the shrimp/broc had some sort of sauce :confused3

I am already really nervous about snorkeling; I can't wait to try it but I think I would enjoy a mini submarine more:rotfl:
