..... are you glad, sad, mad ......... or a bit of each :) :) :) ?
They just seem to have gone so quickly!
How come my sons have grown out of so many things since last term??!!

Shirley

They have gone far too quickly - I said I was going to do loads of things during the summer hols but somehow I haven't got around to doing them! Now the mad panic will begin!

Youngest DS starts school in September so I will have 2 lots of school stuff to organise

We will really miss the lay-ins we have been having - we all snoozed 'til 10am this morning!

Our two DD's and my DW go back to school on Thursday. Although I think DW has to go in on Wednesday for a teacher's day.

I will miss the peace and quiet in the mornings as I get ready for work. It's been lovely over the summer to get up on my own while the others were still asleep :)

DS starts back to school next Tuesday here in the States (Monday is a holiday for us). We've moved so it's a new school for him and he's a little nervous. I will also miss sleeping in, although his school doesn't start until 9:00 am. It is nice that the new school is just down the street from us and I'll be able to walk with him to school (that's a first).

Off to shop for clothes and supplies this week. I sure wish the schools over here would switch to uniforms--so much easier.

The worst thing about the schools going back is the extra time it takes to get to work. 15 minutes becomes 45 :(

my baby starts school on the 4th September, so only 1 more week of her as a 'baby', she'll be all grown-up by the 5th, I'm sure:(

Actually, I'm quite excited for her, she's been looking forward to starting 'big school' for ages now, and I have changed my hours at work so I can walk her to school, and pick her up myself twice a week, which I am really looking forward to.

Glad, glad, GLAD!!! Although I do agree with Tim about the quiet mornings. My two (teenage) girls have been driving me mad with the hours they've kept during the holidays - awake (and keeping me awake) chatting and giggling until the early hours and then sleeping in until lunchtime. I have to say, though, that since the news of Holly and Jessica, I keep reminding myself what their parents would give for being kept awake for the same reason.

........ good luck to all the children starting a new school, and a special good luck to the Mum's who will probably be more worried than the children :D ! ( Reading your post Bev, I remember that first day so vividly - particularly with my first son. Hugs to you, hope it goes well for both of you :) )

..........feeling old! :(

Still - can look forward to Grandchildren starting school I suppose, eventually :D :D :D

Good luck Bev - know exactly how your feeling - and so exciting for Katie, but also a little bit scarey. Bless her. :)

I was friends with a Elementary School Principal (In US, that's ages 5-11) and every year right before school re-opened, he would send a letter to the parents that went something like this:

The letter would start out with the typical "welcome back" sort of sort followed by "what supplies your child might need" kind of stuff and then ended with - - - -

" ... Please do not forget that this Wednesday is the first day of school. It will be the first day of extra traffic as the busses will be out in force and it will still be dark. Please be very very careful as you drive that morning as you don't want to hit any mothers who are dancing in the streets!"

LOL LOL LOL

hit any mothers who are dancing in the streets

No kidding! That reminds me of that Staples commercial (the one where the kids are going back to school)--love it!

Well, this has been my first time off during the school hols and I just cannot believe how quickly they've flown by.

DD's a bit "bored" this week as most of her friends are away on hols. However, due to the sunny weather we've spent a fair bit of time down our beach hut, so it's not been too expensive a summer break;)

We've been busy decorating her "new" bedroom (she's moving down to our huge spare room which is on the ground floor, with it's own bathroom, so real lady of leisure soon:D ). Think I won't be buying anything lilac for a while now . . . .
