School field trips. How far do your kids' classes go?

Sitting her waiting for Bradley (8th grade) to give me a call. The 8th graders went on a field trip to Chicago today. That's about 3 1/2 hours away, I would guess. Probably won't be back until 11 pm or so. Just curious as to what type of end of year field trips are your kids' classes taking.

DS11 (6th grade) will be going to Medieval Times Show which is probably 45 mins. away. We are paying for DS11 trip, as the budget has been cut, and all trips our off. Our elementery school goes to 6th grade, so this will be his last year in this school. DS8(2nd grade) will be going nowhere.

We just picked DS (8th grade) up from a school field trip to Washington, DC, Philly and Gettysburg. They went for 3 days. DC is about an 8 hr. drive from CT.

My DS's 8th grade class flew to DC from Chicago. My DD's 8th grade class drove from Chicago to Millwaukee.

We just picked DS (8th grade) up from a school field trip to Washington, DC, Philly and Gettysburg. They went for 3 days. DC is about an 8 hr. drive from CT.

Holy cow! And here I am nervous about a 3 1/2 bus trip for the day! I 'd be a basket case for these trips!

My 8th grade DS went to Chicago last weekend, Kristy. They spent the night down there. He loved it!!

My middle son went to Tennessee earlier this spring with his National Honor's Society members.

The farthest any of my sons went, tho on a school related trip was when my oldest went to Paris, France for 3 weeks on an exchange program. He was only 12!!

DS (6) kindergarten class went to the Tampa Aqaurium, it is about 45 min. from home with traffic.

DD 15s school doesn't go on field trips. Don't ask me why.

For regular school they have gone up to 2.5 hours away.

For the GATE field trips they are almost always 2.5 - 3.5 hours away.

And here is hoping for a trip 9 hours away to Disneyland with the school band in two school years.

My daughter went to Washington DC (we live in Michigan) by bus with her 8th grade class (stopped at Gettysburg on the way). They were gone for 4 or 5 days. I bought her a pre-paid cell phone for her 14th B-Day right before they went and her a I text-messaged each other back and forth all week.

The public school that my son (now in 8th grade) goes to no longer takes the Washington DC trip, but at least he got to go with his Boy Scout troop and we want to all go as a family one of these days.

Also, the band at my daughter's small private school (7th grade thru 12th grade members of the band) go to Cedar Point (3 hours away) and March for 15 min. and then ride the rides all day.
