I sent my oldest son off to school today for the last time. I watched as he "drove" away to his senior year and realized that over the summer he somehow became a man. I was so happy for him but so sad inside.

An hour later, I put my youngest son on the bus he is heading to first grade. He forgot to give me a kiss which last year ment that he'd come sprinting off the bus to give it to me and then run back on. This year I waited for him to come back but he didn't. In fact, he never even turned around. My baby is growing up also.

Not really sure why I posted this, just kinda blue I guess. Thanks for letting me get it out.

I'm sort of blue every year sending the kids off to school... I'm just sort of funny that way... I'll miss them & you're right, they are growing up... Our youngest started first grade last week, I remember when she was a wee little one :(

My oldest cried last night as today was her first day back to school. She was very apprehensive about going. DW and I just told her to try and imagine how many kids from her class last year she will have in her class this year. She was fine and I am wondering what her stories will be today when she gets home. She also had a new bus driver that isn't familiar with all the stops yet and he drove right by without picking her and a couple other kids up at their stop.

A BIG {HUG} to you!
My DS will be driving off for his first day of his senior year tomorrow. I know exactly how you feel:(

I feel your pain......my baby just went on the kindergarten bus an hour ago and I have been weepy since. She is little miss independent and was just fine leaving on the bus. Me on the other hand..... Sending you a big  from one mom to another!

Count me among the moms and dads who are weepy today. I sent DD (6) to her first day of 1st and DS (5) to Kindergarten. Oh how quickly they grow.

OP: I cannot imagine the emotions of sending one to Sr. year and one to 1st grade.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!!

My 3 kids started school last tuesday, but we had friday and monday off. It made today awful. The little one (first grade), cried again, plus the weather was lousy this weekend and we took in our water trampoline so the summer is OVER :(

Yup, that was a hard one, seeing DS drive off to his senior year for the first time this morning. It seems like yesterday that he was going off to kindergarten.:(

My kids started last Monday (8/30) and it made me cry when my 6th grader rode off on the bus, and again when my 4th grader walked into school... and didn't look back like she ALWAYS has before...

 Been there, done that too. It's hard. I think the worst was sending DD off to college, helping her move into her dorm and trying to think of every little thing to keep us from leaving. When we finally did leave, I cried all the way home.

She moved back home that January and commuted instead, then she left again when she got married so I had to "let go" all over again. :) Very hard, at any time, to let your children spread their wings.

I'm in the same boat here, my oldest DD went to college 2 weeks ago...she has been calling & IM'ing every day...she's not happy with her roommate or the fact that her boyfriend is at school in AZ

at the other end I have my youngest who began 1st grade last week. As someone else said "little miss independent"...that didn't seem too bad...she still has more years at our local elem. school.

In between I have a HS Jr. an 8th grader a 6th grader and my 3rd grader.

I never understood when the kids were young (babies) everyone who said it just gets harder...but listening to my DD at college complain about computer or TV problems & be unable to help then & there is so difficult! Never mind the situation with the room mate...not uch I can do about that either...just have to be Mommy & listen to her complain.

Do they ever grow up all the way & NOT complain to Mommy?????

I know what you mean, my oldest DS started senior year last Tuesday and I too watched him drive off ( it seems like just yesterday I was putting him on the bus for kindergarten, he could hardly get up that first step). On top of that my 8th grader DS wanted to ride with senior to school on first day, but on the other hand my DD 4th grade wanted me to take her ( i have taken the first day of school off since DS 17 went to kindergarten). After we got to school she said why are you coming in with me, I said I thought you wanted me to, she said yeah I guess I do cause I'm not quite sure where to go.( she gets to be on the second floor instead of first). When my boys were in 4th no way no how would they let me walk them to their rooms on the first day so I know that it is coming with her too. Just wondering if next year I should take the first day off. I guess we will see then. Time goes too fast

DD started 8th grade last week. Our house sits only about 15' off the road & she usually waits on the porch out of the weather. She has always wanted me to sit on the porch to wait with her.

This year, I couldn't get her to go out. She wanted to "wait here by the door" telling me she could see the bus in plenty of time. (True, we do that during the extreme cold in the winter.)

Finally, she admitted that she didn't want to hurt my feelings - she wanted me to stay inside. :( Of course the next morning I needed to go back upstairs after she went out & she was upset because I wasn't standing in the kitchen (out of sight) waiting with her. ;)

Too soon they get married & leave.
