School Averages

I think most good schools want 94-95+, so you're good.

96 is good. Most school wants 93+.

I dont know what my numerical average is. But my GPA is a 4.0 so I think I'm good lol

My average works out to about an 85 (my GPA is 3.526 out of 4.7, but there's a bunch of scaling involved in how my actual average is calculated) and I got into a few decent schools. A 96 should get you into good schools, but remember schools don't look at just grades alone. The ideal student is active in the community as well as an active member within the school (be it with sports or some other club).

That depends on the difficulty of your classes and the grades of others at your school.

What do you guys mean by average? Like a 96%? or like a 96 on some other scale?

to be completely honest with you, your grades don't matter too much. most, if not all state schools will accept the bare minimum act/sat score and a 2.0 gpa.

i had a 23 on the act and a 3.40 gpa. i get more than 14,000 dollars a year from my school.

i don't understand why people freak out about college so much. these days ANYBODY can get in.

Well, this all depends on what college or even what type of college she's hoping to get into. A 3.4 and a 23 are good enough for the vast majority of schools, but schools like those in the Ivy League are going to have higher standards. Converting my actual average to a GPA on a 4.0 scale gives me the same as you, a 3.4 and I got a 1950 (including a 710 writing which most schools don't look at) on my SATs as well as several SAT II scores above 600. I also scored a 3 on the APUSH exam. I play two sports and I'm an anti-bullying counselor at my school. Yet Princeton and Carleton (not an Ivy, but still a hard school to get into) rejected me. The two kids I know who got into Ivies have 3.9/4.0 GPAs scored a 2110 and a 2250 respectively on the SATs.

True, most schools (including most state schools) will take you with a 3.4 and a good test score (be it the ACT or the SAT), but there are those that want higher scores and averages.

That being said, I wound up at a state school. GO UNH WILDCATS!

pretty much ANYBODY can get into A college, be it a comm college and then transfer to a 4 year, or if you can go to a 4 year state, or get into an ivy league, pretty much any body can get into A college, not the best, but its not hard to get into (most) colleges.

Yeah, pretty much anybody can get into college. A lot of schools now don't even look at ACT/SAT scores, and they make you take a placement exam.

Seriously, unless you're looking for Ivy League (which well, I know you wanted to get into Harvard) you'll get into a good school.

Nobody cares about freshman grades anyways. I don't even remember mine.
