Hi,

I just got an email about volunteering for the upcoming warehouse sale in May. If you've never heard of it, check Scholastic and look for locations in your area. I signed up for 5 cashier shifts because I'm just subbing right now and have the time. I'll get "paid" in $10 certificates per hour for books. I should have about $200 to spend.

I've never been able to attend before and was curious about the experience.

If you have worked one, how did it go? I assume the certificates will work on any items at the sale, not just specifically books?

If you've attended, what did you think?

I attended one last year. I was pregnant with my first and was able to get quite a few books for my son. I'm a high school math teacher and wasn't able to find any resources for my room. Can get great deals on books

I am going to search now. I have never been to one and would love :rotfl: be paid in that manner... I spend a large portion of my salary on classroom items! Thank you OP for posting! :flower3:

I go just about everytime they offer one. It's literally just a warehouse sale - you wander the aisles of the warehouse with a shopping basket. Some of the prices are good, some are better on Amazon or the like.

They will often have tables set up with further discounted items and I find better deals there. And then usually in another part of the warehouse, they have a "everything you can fit in a box for one price" selection.

It usually takes me an hour to check out everything, and always worth the trip.

Have fun!

The email came out yesterday and I can't believe how many spots were filled by mid-day today. Some people are working a huge number of shifts. I am hoping that means there are lots of good materials available. I am looking forward to spending my working money on new books & supplies!

We shop there at least 2x a year and spend loads. I always thought about working there but never have. The warehouse used to be 15 minutes from my house, but it moved alot further away.

I have to say the majority of my kids books are from there.

Thank you so much. I just signed up as ours in is early May. The only downside is that our school's sale is 2 weeks before and I know I'll buy a lot then as well. But I can always get Christmas presents.

I love going! It is my twice a year trip. I get great books for my DD, her teacher, and sometimes my classroom (middle school social studies).

I went to the website but can't seem to find a link to volunteer. Can anyone help me?

I went to scholastic.com but can't find the info. Please help! Thanks:)

Here is how to find the sales:

I have never worked, but used to shop twice a year. DS and I would go and he would stock up on books. The prices and selection were outstanding. DS still talks about the best deal we ever got there - the 2nd Harry Potter book in hardcover for $1! They must have had a lot of them.

Now keep in mind, some of these sales are at actual warehouses, but some of them are just set up in banquet rooms at hotels. The warehouse near our house closed. Now they set up a sale at the Quality Inn. The selection is very small. We only went one time, and haven't been back since.

We really miss the true warehouse sale. There is one in a city about an hour away, but we can't seem to ever make it.
