I received a package from Scholastic in the mail yesterday.:scared1: I am very careful and absolutely certain I never signed up for anything from Scholastic. It is addressed to Child in household. Should I open it up and call them or just refuse the package unopened??

I think you need to return it unopened.

If you can figure out who sent it, you need to go online and cancel the subscription.

Sorry you have such a hassle!

Hmmmm....The envelope is stuck on top of the package. If I open that and call them do you think can I still refuse it?? I've been doing rewards for years and this has never happend to me before.

I would open the envelope to see if it is a bill or if they have billed your credit card. I have ordered Scholastic before and they are very easy to deal with IMO. Just call their 800 # and explain what happened. They should let you reutrn the package with no charges to you.

I had a package from them On Monday!!

I called them and they were really nice. Told me I could keep the tote bag but if you open it you have to pay to return it. She cancelled my account and I'll just write refused on the package and return it.

My daughter also got one on Monday. I'd really like to find out where they came from in order to to avoid any future problems. I also called and the lady was very nice. She said not to open the envelope or USPS would charge me to return it. My daughter has to call and return now.

This is kind of disturbing that it happened to several people. Do you think it was from QR where they got your info, or somewhere else?

By the way, if you are certain that you in no way signed up for a trial anything, I believe the law in regards to the US Postal Service is that if someone sends something via US Mail (don't think its true if sent by another method) and you did not request it, you get to keep it and are under no obligation to pay for it.

If someone on this thread opened their package by mistake, I would check with the post office, but I am pretty sure that is the law.

Scholastic is usually a very stand-up company. Maybe they can tell you where they received your information.

Good luck all.

Whenever I have called them, I have always had good service. I agree with the PP. I think if you didn't order it, you are under no obligation. I have never heard of them sending out books that weren't ordered though. I wonder if there was something you did, that signed you up and you didn't realize it. Also, I have never seen it addressed to "child", it has always had the kids' actual name on it.

Good Luck.

It really is a mystery but I've been doing rewards for a number of years now and I really know the ropes. I know I never clicked anything for scholastic. Could it possibly have come from a Mypoints bonus mail 5 point click?:confused3

1) Accept the package and open it.
2) If you did not order it, you may keep it without charge.
3) THIS IS LAW.

4) If you do not open it, it might be a legit order.
5) If so, you would be billed and expected to pay.
6) Either way, you need to know what is inside.

The woman I talked to said not to open it and send it back. She said that she would cancel anything that I owed.

This is just my impression but for some reason I sort of sensed that she had been getting many calls similar to mine and realized that it was an error of some sort.
