Schmoozing the Room Assigner

I've found that the desk CM at check-in has more power than theroom assigner. The CM said that the faxed requests are usually only taken seriously when they are for serious requests, like medical or whatever. I dobn't know how true this is, but I know that when I faxed, I got nothing I asked for (view, location) but when I asked at check-in, I got it every time. We were even upgraded to water view for free!
