Scheduling FP with on and off site split-stay with package

So... we are about to book a two day MYW stay at POP with four days worth of tickets. We are actually staying for seven nights, but have a lot of free nights built up due to being hotel rewards members with an off-site chain. I like the idea of staying on-site the other two days as we would get the MBs, have the availability of busses for part of the trip, and we would take full advantage of the vouchers offered with MYW.

However, I'm starting to get a bit confused with how the package works in terms of scheduling FPs. From what I understand, you can only shcedule for when you are staying on-site with the package. If this is the case, why are you allowed to buy more ticket days than the number of nights you are staying? Basically I am very, very confused. I consider myself pretty knowledgable about WDW stuff, but FP+ is just so convaluted and confusing. If I sound dumb or this is a stupid question I apologize!

TIA for any help. This is what we are looking to do, so "just don't do that" or "why are you doing it this way?" is not really going to be that helpful. This is what works for our vacation. If we have to do a room-only and order tickets separately and skip the MYW, then we will just go with that. Also, if it's just a matter of having to schedule the off-site ones at a later date, that's fine too, but since we are doing both on and off-site (and not ordering tickets separately) that's where I'm confused. From everything I've seen, most videos and articles address either on site with a package or off-site with tickets manually entered in, so I think I am doing something not normally done.

I got a bit confused by your post but I think you mean, 2 night on site stay, 2 nights somewhere else, 4 days of park tickets.

You can book your fp+ at the 60 day mark for the day you check in, the days you stay onsite and the day you check out. After that you can book the rest of your offsite ticket days at 60 days from that date.


Let's make the date of your stay start Oct 1
So Oct 1 check in - no park ticket
Oct 2 - park day, book fp at 60 days from Oct 1
Oct 3 - checkout, park day, can book fp 60 days from Oct 1
oct 4 - park day, stay offsite, book fp at 60 days from Oct 4
Oct 5 - park day, stay offsite, book fp at 60 days from Oct 5

We'll be doing 2 days on-site and 5 days off-site, but yes we have 4 days of parks which would be spread out over the week. We like to take things slow. I've been trying to watch tutorials and things but none cover my exact situation. I have not been in a park since FP+ was completely rolled out (we did a trial in late 2013 and have been back for non-park trips since) so I am very confused about it. I feel like the more I read the more confused I get!

You can book your fp+ at the 60 day mark for the day you check in, the days you stay onsite and the day you check out. After that you can book the rest of your offsite ticket days at 60 days from that date.


Let's make the date of your stay start Oct 1
So Oct 1 check in - no park ticket
Oct 2 - park day, book fp at 60 days from Oct 1
Oct 3 - checkout, park day, can book fp 60 days from Oct 1
oct 4 - park day, stay offsite, book fp at 60 days from Oct 4
Oct 5 - park day, stay offsite, book fp at 60 days from Oct 5

No, that's wrong, unless it has changed. I did exactly that in Oct last year. The rest of your stay opens one day at a time

Really! Mine didn't. I had stayed onsite one night then with a friend the rest of the time. We did a "package" with 3 day tickets. And I was only able to book two days at 60. The last day I had to wait until 30 days out.

Sorry OP I might be wrong but that was my experience. The good thing is the system will let you know if you can book so you can always check on the 60 mark from your offsite stay

I'm sure there are a lot of people that have done this recently so they will know.

Did you try to book your offsite portion at 60 days from the actual offsite days (not from check-in) or did you just assume that it wouldn't work and waited until 38 days out?

If the onsite portion of your trip was before the offsite portion, you should have been able to book the offsite portion at a rolling 60 days out.

I did try as the offsite was after...bc I was told I could but it wouldnt work. Not sure why it wouldn't let me but it was last year in Oct. it wasn't a Huge deal bc I was touring by myself and a FP for 1 is much easier. It was a party day MNSSHP (went to EP before then met friends at MK) and I did have party tickets on my account so maybe that was the issue. It's good to know that it should work at the 60 day mark! If I ever need it again!
